My buddy stopped by and brought me a Summer Shandy. I think it's a decent beer and usually get it when I go to BW3s. Anyone else like it?

With beers like that, I enjoy one or maybe two. But if I'm having a few, I'd rather not. For me, it's like that with about any fruit beer, whether it be that, hard cider or stuff like Wild Blue (although that gets more of a pass because of its 8% alcohol).bigdaddy2003;1200070 wrote:My buddy stopped by and brought me a Summer Shandy. I'll be honest, I'm a beer snob and if it's 85+ degrees, I'll enjoy the hell out of a summer shandy.

Oh yeah I mean by no means do I think it's the best beer or my favorite. It's just one I do happen to enjoy when I'm offered it or I'm at BDubs.

I don't like that beer at all. Too lemony for my taste (main reason I don't like any summer beers). I do enjoy a fruit beer like strawberry harvest from abita though.bigdaddy2003;1200070 wrote:My buddy stopped by and brought me a Summer Shandy. I don't mind the lemony taste I guess. It's not something I would drink every day but I do enjoy it here and there. I've never even seen a strawberry beer.
The Hoppin Frog Turbo Shandy is pretty good? I've never seen it either.

$3.50 plus tax at the cigar shop I frequent up here in Akron. It's good stuff for the price, and by volume, that even includes the "cheap" stuff.Commander of Awesome;1199752 wrote:I like Hobgoblin, for the price you can't go wrong. Its like $4 here.
And it's what I call frugality without sacrifice.Commander of Awesome;1199752 wrote: I got off work early today, and waiting until my flight this evening. Picked up a Stone Self Righteous and Green Flash Imperial IPA on the way home. Figured I'll save money over an airport beer and drink better beer. That's what I call a win win.

As far as shandy beer goes I like it. And it's 7% which helps.bigdaddy2003;1200166 wrote:I don't mind the lemony taste I guess. It's not something I would drink every day but I do enjoy it here and there. I've never even seen a strawberry beer.

I'd do it after tasting it, but that's just me. Not much choice for me when it comes to Sour beers in my area. (No JP's)

I had a bottle in my hand today when I was at the store but put it back, my fridge is close to empty so I couldn't do it. Really want to try it so next time I go I'll probably pick up a bottle. Ended up getting 4 packs of GI Pere Jacques and Green Flash Rayon Vert.Curly J;1201480 wrote:I'd do it after tasting it, but that's just me. Southern Tier 2XIPA right now. Then probably a Sixpoint Apollo. I will most likely try the Hoppin' Frog Hopped Up Goose Juice Rye IPA tomorrow. People on beeradvocate message boards spoke very highly of it.

Let's put it this way...I even over heard a couple of the pourers, from other breweries, commenting on how good it was.

I'm considering breaking into another Man-O-War Virtue. They're so mellow. Perfect for a late night where you don't want to be breathing fire.

I actually only had half of it. The Wife and I started talking and the conversation lead to different 'activities'. I let it go out like a good solider. What I had I enjoyed and will be buying another one tonight to have at Beer Fest night two.O-Trap;1201650 wrote:Believe it or not, I've never had one. Let me know how it is.

Tops for the night was the Founders Better Half. I couldn't pick a second place beer, but here are some of the ones I really liked.
La Trappe Oak Aged Quad Batch 7. This is probably the front runner of the Second place beers. Very nice flavor with a little hint of smoke. Very complex.
Stone Dry Hopped IPA. This was a firkin and the first beer I had that night. Had to sip this one as it was very hoppy and had a heavy mouthfeel. Serious Business beer to start the night with.
Mt Carmel 3rd Shift Imperial Coffee Stout. Very nice. You can only get it on tap and at their brewery/tasting room.
Rivertown Tom's Wee Heavy Scotch Ale Aged in Port Oak Barrels. Very interesting. I need to get to their brewery/tasting room to try their exotic beers.
Flying Dog Barrel Aged Gonzo. Very Nice with the oak aging.
New Holland Envious. Nice fruity flavor came through on this one.
Brew Kettle Tunguska. First time having this one. Very Impressed with it. In fact this is the beer I took on the patio to drink with my Tobac Especial. Iit might have even been the Brew master there. I told him after my first sip that I was going to have a cigar with it right now. He said that's why we made it.
Juliet. Very nice Sour beer. I will be buying some tomorrow.
We didn't get to all the speciality beers. So tonight it's going to be the ones we hit first tonight We still need to try the following.
GL Grand Cru
Ommegang Art of Darkness
SA Oaked Ale
Plus a few others that aren't speciality that we've never tried or on tap.
I did try Fat Head for the first time. Jungle Jim's is going to start carrying it.

He has dragons milk but I didn't get it. Does everyone recommend giving it a shot? Also he had something called monks blood? Anyone ever heard of that? It was packaged in a small cardboard looking box
