So you wouldn't agree that drinking a 15% Barleywine out of a small chalice meant for sipping would be a better choice than using a pilsner glass that is tall making the beer flow out faster? And I don't consider myself a snob.

Some prefer a skillet, but I will drink it cold.

To summarize my thoughts: I will not drink it cold, I take it out of the fridge and put the bottle on skillet on the stove (don't turn on the stove, just let it sit there) for 15 minutes until it is exactly 53 dregrees. Pour into a snifter and drink with one pinky out

The glass can also have a small effect on the speed of oxidation, as I recall.

And I drink Bud Light if it's handed to me, so I resent the snob remark. ;)

Hmm...depends. Did I have a good or a bad day? Bad day I'm chugging, good day...I'm probably chugging lol

Honestly - it's preference.

I agree, but that doesn't mean a specific glass can't have any affect on a beer.

We'll agree to disagree - I believe temperature affects the beers taste and smell.

The thing that the glass affects the most is the size of the head and how long it will sustain the head. Most good beer glassware is narrower at the lip or slightly below the lip than it is in the middle or at the base. What this does is create a sort of bottleneck for the head, so its exposure to air is minimized by the bottleneck.

Shaker pint glasses are probably the worst to drink out of because the lip is the widest part of the glass.

If you don't enjoy the aroma from your beer then you shouldn't worry about it too much, and honestly the overall difference isn't huge anyways. But to say it makes no difference is the equivalent of saying that head doesn't matter. Now most people who drink ABI beers or SABMiller beers think head is a bad thing anyways (so did my ex girlfriend, ZING!) which just makes me thankful that there's one more thing I don't have in common with those folks.

Ah, but that was not part of the requirement. Your own statement was that the sign you are something is saying you aren't that something.

Salem Witch Trial logic at its best. ;)

And I am in fact a green elephant.

Can we start a beer snob thread not based on the beer but based on the glass, temp and how we hold said glass?
