Also anyone ever been to Fat Head's in North Olmsted? I'm looking to make the trip some time this weekend. First time home in a while.
I've been to the Fat Head in Pittsburgh. It's like beer heaven there.

Also The Brew Kettle in Strongsville is amazing. Good food too.

Fat Head in Pittsburgh was a good time...from what I remember. Details are a little fuzzy after all the drinking done prior to getting there, but I remember some good tasting beer there.

On tonight's menu:

1) White Rajah by The Brew Kettle (probably my favorite beer of all time)
2) Hop Crisis by 21st Amendment (Imperial IPA aged on oak spirals)
3) Mint Chocolate Imperial Stout by Stone/Iron Fist/Ken Schmidt collaboration

Hop Crisis is terrible. Hope you like it better than I and my beer club did. I bought a 4 pack and all were drain pours. The group also decided it was the worst beer ever brought.

Think I'm going to fill up two growlers at the local brewery tonight. I have a free one coming my way as they do a punch card (buy 10, get the 11th free). They just released a batch of their Americo-German Pale Ale today (http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/half-acre-mr-ouroboros/155581/) and I'm hoping they still have their San Diego IPA on tap (http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/half-acre-vallejo-ipa/187435/)

Hyde Park Wine and Spirits has a few bottles of it. It's expensive as all hell but pretty much all the Stone collaborations are. $4/bottle (12 oz.)

It's pretty crazy but pound for pound NE Ohio is certainly in consideration for the best brewing area in the United States. I mean I would really only put a handful of regions in the "elite brewing" category (among them would be Colorado, NoCal, SoCal, Michigan, and NE Ohio).

Between Great Lakes, Fat Head, The Brew Kettle, and Hoppin' Frog, you have 4 highly regarded breweries nationwide that brew some of the most highly regarded beers in any given style. GL and it's Xmas Ale (released tomorrow!), Fat Head and Head Hunter, TBK and White Rajah, and Hoppin' Frog and BORIS

I'd put Thirsty Dog and Old Leghumper/12 Dogs in there as well.

Thats a good point Mooney.

SoCal has Stone, Green Flash, Lost Abbey, Bruery, Ale Smith and I'm sure a few I'm missing on.

NorCal has Lagunitas, Russian River, Bear Republic, North Coast

Those 3 would be my top 3 craft beer areas in the states.

I'd put 21st Amendment in with NoCal (despite your bad experience with Hop Crisis....can't explain that, it's rated 99 on RateBeer and 88 on BA)

The Hop Crisis was great. CoA I'm not sure what the deal was with your Hop Crisis because I thought it was pretty damn good, about on par with other oaked IPA's I've had (like Great Divide 18th Anny.)

But the Stone Collaboration Mint Chocolate Imperial Stout is just fucking perfect. If you've found some Imperial stouts to be a bit much, I think you need to try this as the mint and chocolate flavors balance out the maltiness of a regular stout. I had heard good things but was pretty reluctant to try it because I'm not a big fan of mint chocolate anything. But this is great, there's only a hint of mint flavor and it adds the perfect amount of sweetness to the beer without actually being minty. I love it.

Echo the Mint Chocolate, its amazing. Perhaps I got a bad batch of Hop Crisis?

Also Double Bastard released here today, just picked up 3 bottles. One's in the fridge as we speak. I'd like to vertical of all the bastards, think it would be interesting.

Also ETB, I fucking love Subliminally Self Righteous. Top 3 black ales IMO.

I've had better DIPAs, but Hop Crisis is far from a drain pour. Had it a few times and each time I liked it.

Speaking of Stone Verticals, looking forward to getting 12-12-12 soon. Sucks I didn't buy any before 09, but at least glad I have a few to drink.

Mooney, where did you find the White Rajah? I couldn't find it at Wine and Spirits when I was there the other day.
