Founders Fair Maiden Ale.

Good stuff, and not as "over hopped" as most other pale ales here in the craft beer scene in New Zealand. WILL DRINK AGAIN.

Love Jolly Pumpkin. Reason enough for any Ohioan to like Michigan, and even Ann Arbor (they have a cafe and brewery there, though i think they also have locations in Traverse City and one other place in Michigan)

I thought I've had about everything from Founders, but never heard of that one.Then I checked the the website you posted...Ah, New Zealand, not Michigan. I actually like Steinlager and I'm not really a lager drinker. Funny thing is a few of my dedicated Miller Lite drinkers even like the Steinlager when they tried it.

Thirsty Dog puts out some quality stuff OTrap. A guy that used to do the beer tastings I went to help develop the recipe of their Hoppus Maximus. He said the neat thing about that beer is the Amarillo hops used for finishing that mellows it out. He said it was his idea, so OF COURSE it's a good idea...(Now the guy is in Virgina as a Sales Rep for Bell's). I really like Thirsty Dog's Siberian Night Stout. It's become one of my old standbys when I'm not in the mood for an Imperial stout.

I actually got off work early and hit the store. Grabbed another DFH Hellhound. It was on the shelf now as there was only 2 of them left. I only took one as I didn't want to be greedy. I'm having one now and might be going back to buy the last bottle tomorrow. Damn fine beer. You can't feel the 10% in it. It could be a Dangerous beer if you have too many when it's warm outside. I recommend trying it if you find it.

We also bought some more Tiny. At $6.99 for that big bottle, I'm going to buy one or 2 each trip as that is DAMN cheap for the quality of this brew. (should I ship some to you OTrap ???) We bought a bottle of the Weyerbacher Double Simcoe...at same price, Good Stuff. Also got some Hoppin Frog Hop Dam, a Triple IPA. (looking forward to that) Last but not least some Lambic and a couple bottles of Kriek.

I did forget, at the recommendation of one of the sales reps, bought a bottle of Rivertown Brewing Lambic. Rivertown is a new brewery in Cincinnati and they've only been around a couple of years. I've had a few of their beers at a Beer Festival in Cincy and wasn't too impressed with them. I'm not expecting much from this one either since the label says Malt Beverage aged in wine barrels. (Sounds like a pretend Lambic like Sam Adams is). We'll see...I call em Like I taste em with no alliance to an area because I live there. (yes, that was a shot at you local GL Fans...hahahaaaaa)

IMO I would imagine most people like Great Lakes because they make excellent beers, not because the brewery is in Cleveland.

Maybe so BORIS...just not a huge fan. At their price point and availability, here in Cincy I can get better stuff. Everyone should drink what they like and support their local breweries. (I'll never make a good troll I guess, even with the Art Capone laugh).

I did have the Hop Dam last night. WOW !!! Nice Beer. It did have that 'funky' musty hops smell. At first sniff The Wife started drooling and my teeth instantly hurt as I could tell this beer would strip the enamel from my teef. It reminded me of Hopslam, but without the sweet finish. I'll defiantly buy that one a few more times and start saving for my dentures.

The Rivertown Lambic was alright. It wasn't much of a Lambic at all. It was more of a sour ale. If they marketed it as a sour ale, instead of a lambic, I'd say it was a very decent sour ale. At least a nice intro beer for someone who's never had a sour ale. I might buy this one again as Jolly Pumkin is a rarity down here.

DFH 60 and 90 minute tonight. Got the last of both at my local Giant Eagle.

Had an Avery Maharaja Imperial IPA with the father in law tonight. VERY hoppy, but in a very good way, and I normally don't even care for something that hoppy.

They had the 60 minute on the shelf last week, it was gone as of last night. I did pick up some Palo Santo Marron. It's been a while since I've had some. We didn't see any more Hellhound, as there was only 1 bottle on the shelf last week. We ended up asking the Beer Dude if they had anymore...He went back and got us another bottle...sweet !!!

We almost grabbed that last night, be we still had a bottle of the Double Simcoe at home...well not anymore I drank that last night, along with as bottle of Tiny. (Yes we got another bottle of that wonderful stuff, that brings me up to 4 on hand)

I got to quit buying some beers and drink some of the stuff I have on hand. I just went through part of my stash, the part in the other room which is NOT my real stash room...

I had 3 DFH Palo Santos last night. I forgot how good and strong that was. Then I found another bottle of the Lucky Bastard in the fridge, that I didn't know I had. Shared that bomber with the wife. The Lucky Bastard could not stand after the Palos. I swear it tasted like 'unsweetened tea'. I couldn't believe it so I had The Wife try and she agreed.

Not sure what I'm gonna have tonight.

Broke down and grabbed the Rockmill Brewery Triple this eve. Will drink it this weekend.

Yeah, that stuff is about as strong as an IPA. Any beer after it would be worthless.

At that point, you just bust out a Coke and call it a night.

Got a SkullSplitter Ale from Orkney Brewery today. Looking forward to it.

Picked up another bottle of E.S. Bam for tonight; it's really hard for me to not buy some Jolly Pumpkin every time I'm in the beer store. Also finally picked up a Sierra Nevada Beer Camp mix pack. I had the California Common which was excellent and now the Weizenbock which is good as well, although not much of a surprise. Looking forward to trying to the next two.

Picked up a bottle of Starr Hill (micro brew from Charlottesville, VA) Bourbon Barrel Cryptical Imperial Stout.
Pretty nice. A strong hopped ale, dark brown, little head, with some vanilla and bourbon hints.
7.5ABV.

Dang, I still haven't found any Jolly Pumpkin down here. I did like the California Common, but haven't tried the Weizenbock yet. I might start off tonight with that one. I went straight for the Juniper Ale as it sounded the most interesting to me.

After a couple nights of not drinking beer, had some Lambic and Port Wine instead, I was back at it last night. My Wife's friend bought her a 6-pack of Two Brothers IPA. I had 3 of them and they were downright good. I even had a Hopslam afterwords. The Hopslam tasted, well not as hoppy as the 2 Brothers IPA. I guess the hops are dropping off a lot for a Double IPA bought in January. I actually went back and checked the bottle cap to make sure it was a Hopslam. If it's fallen that far I'm going to drink the final 2 or 3 tonight. (at $18.00 a six pack I wont waste it).

The Wife is on her way to the store now to pick up some beverages. I told her to surprise me.

Picked up a 21st Amendment Brew Free or Die IPA 6 pack.

Had a Night Stalker for the first time last night. It was good. A little rich for what I normal expect from an Imperial Stout, but not bad. Goose Island did well with that one.

I feel like thats a beer you need to age for a couple years. I'm going to pick another one up to put on the shelf.

How is this? I've had Back in Black a few times which is decent but nothing else from them.

This one is pretty nice. Has some nice citrus on the nose, but is very balanced overall. I like it.

I did try the Beer Camp Weizenbock last night. Not to bad. Lots of spice in that one, especially in the finish. 'Wheat' beers used to be my favorite years ago, but fell out of my liking due to being over spiced. (I still like unfiltered beers though)

I've seen this one, but have never tried it. I haven't bought a Goose Island in a long time. I used to drink their stuff years ago because they sold it at the grocery store, so it was good when I was in a pinch and couldn't get nothing else. I might just grab this in the future as I love me some Stout. especially after the comments from you and Boris. Make that a couple of bottles or more. One to drink, one or two to age.

I think I'm going to venture across the river into Kentucky to see what they've added to their shelves. I'll have to really look for some Jolly Pumpkin. It's been a while since I've had some of their offerings.

I guess I'll stop now, as if I do another quote people are going to think I'm OTrap...
