Everytime we start to get some intellect on this thread Paul Amster posts something....If Ida Paul dont give us some kinda DESCENT input...Beast is about to be JJ Exclusive.

WCAL as I see it: 4 possible championship contenders remain. (NOR, HILLS, SMV, WD)
The above are all operating under the assumption of 4-0 conference records.......that is beating nwn, dal, ritt & chip.

The championship chase begins Fri 9/23 with Waynedale hosting Smithville. The loser is basically out of it as they still must face the big 2 (Nor,Hills) with a conference loss.

Sept 30 is a really big week as the contenders all face off. Waynedale at Norwayne / Smithville at Hillsdale.
I'm guessing someone will be officially eliminated after the dust clears on this week. Probably Waynedale or Smithville.

Oct 7-Hillsdale travels to Waynedale. Probable end of tough 3 weeks for Bears and title hopes. Possible stumbling block for Falcons or even their own Waterloo.

Oct 14- Week of chest beating and stat padding.

Oct 21- If the Smithies are still in the hunt, a visit by the Bobcats will be a huge game and chance to reclaim old glory. I see the final nail in a big green coffin.

Oct 28- The BIG one! Wild, Wonderful Crestvirginia, Ohio....Hillsdale at Norwayne. 2 highly talented and motivated teams battle for the trophy and bragging rights. Hillsdales post season hopes will probably be on the line and Norwayne will be jacked up for the biggest home game since hosting Smithville in a battle of the unbeatens in the early 90s. I'd tell you what happens....but what fun would that be?


note: a brief history of Red Rum predictions-

Bucyrus will win some games for Hillsdale........................well, maybe not.

OQB, I aggree with you....but the last couple years, the seniors this year for Hillsdale have been involved in some really big games and done pretty well. One game at a time and I think that the title chase will be exciting for the "top" four in the leauge.

Absolutely, like I said I'm not saying they can't run the table because they most certainly can. History just doesn't look like it. I agree with your other point as well, these senior classes for both schools have played in the playoffs and know what it takes.

Norwayne got some valuable play off experience last season, here's to hoping that can pay off in the big games this season.

Im with Bobcat3 on this. One game at a time. I am amazed with all of this talk about Norwayne. We've won 4 games and even The Daily Record has got us playing Orrville in the playoffs. Rittman this week then we'll worry about next week. I hope the Cats dont get caught up in all of this BS.

Good to see some good, down to earth posting! Norwayne is absolutely LOADED....and your sophomore class has been successful at every level.

My hope is that My Bears can manage to hang with Smithville.....its the start of a BIG 3 week run followed by Hillsdale and Norwayne. Hopefully we can get that win back from last year against Norwayne....Give Hillsdale a reminder about throwing deep when you are up 35 in the 4th....but 1st and foremost.....just beat Smithville...by +1

Edit: i would take any margin of victory...but just 1 is fine

I second that intelligent post comment beast! These are high school kids that can perform many different ways on any given night. Take one game at a time, don't take anyone lightly, and see where the chips fall after the week 10 game. I would love to finally see an Orrville WCAL matchup....but both teams have tons of football to be played and have to show up each week with one goal in mind.

Speaking of Northwestern.....
They aren't the best 0-4 team in Ohio, but they're also not the worst. Their schedule has been rough....Black River, Crestview & Norwayne all 4-0 and Mogadore at 2-2. This is the week where victory is possible. From what I hear, the QBs are all banged up and a new youth movement might be implemented at that position this week (just a rumor)
I'm also told some of the young guys are starting to get their varsity feet under them......Syd?....what's the word?
Pride is the only thing on the line this week for both NWN and DOY. This game will show who has more.

"Favorite" is a relative term. They might be someone's favorite, but there is no objective "favorite."

That was actually one of the biggest fears when Smithville was so good. Eventually, it happened. The guys started thinking that teams were just going to lay down for them. They forgot that being at the top of the pile means that everyone has a sight on beating you.

Not that that helps with your actual situation, as the teams were playing each other, but you score one point if the other team forfeits. ;)

OK wise guy...I was in Manhattan so I didnt see the game....I just know what YOU and others told me...

I disagree with your gf. Sometimes me drinking heavily is the only thing that keeps my relationship healthy. And you can cite me as a reference in your next discussion on said topic with your lady friend. You are welcome.
