A woman...driving 20 miles in a level 3...no worries, chances are she won't be there on Thursday either

Gotta love the 3 Dayton news channels that made it sound like hell was here. As for Northern Ohio....you guys should get rocked tonight.

Not that you'll get everything they are saying, but you do realize the big storm is tonight, right?

All schools in Toledo closed today. I think the roads were fine to be open, but they had to take in the possibility that kids might not make it home as the blizzard should arrive right around 2pm today. Calling for a foot in Toledo with some freezing rain mixed in before. We got about 4 inches last night, so everyone should shovel that away before the layer of ice comes with the snow on top of it.

Detroit is calling for 16-20 inches and Fort Wayne for 20+. Chicago is supposed to be getting 2 feet. Gonna be a fun one!

the calm before the storm here in T-Town...

TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) – A major winter storm will continue to affect northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan into Wednesday.

The snow from late Monday night into Tuesday morning was the first wave of the storm.

The second wave of the storm will be moderate to heavy snow that begins late Tuesday afternoon or early evening and continues through Wednesday with strong winds developing. Snow will change to a mix of sleet and freezing rain during this period, especially well south of Toledo.

Temperatures will be very cold. Winds gusting over 30 mph will create blowing and drifting snow, which will be especially problematic in rural areas.

Revisions on snow accumulations are ongoing as the storm moves in from the west. Here are the latest details:

North of Toledo

Areas north of Toledo will see the most accumulation. Southern Michigan counties could see a total of 16" or more from both waves of the storm.

Greater Toledo area

The amount of sleet and freezing rain mixed in with the snow will affect snow totals. The Toledo area should fall in the 8-14" range.

South of Toledo

Less than 6" of snow is forecast well south of Toledo due to higher sleet and freezing rain potential. These counties will have more ice and less snow. In fact, snow accumulation could be as low as 2" in the southernmost counties of our viewing area

They shut down my Illinois office at 130pm ET today, I am slammed and am hoping I will get out at 11pm tonight as planned, then I'll be back tomorrow for at least probably 14 hours if they are closed down again which they are anticipating!

Man, the final forecasts do not look good for Findlay. I was hoping to get more snow with little ice, but its looking like close to an inch of ice is possible which means some damage.

Still looking some good snow accumulation also that will put us around a foot total with what we have now.

Just hope the power stays on.

Already started with some freezing rain and snow.

Yikes!

My grandfather has the right idea. He's got this contraption (I honestly think he had it made special) that you plug into the cigarette lighter in the car and it has what looks like a caulk spatula at the end, but it heats up, and the ice becomes much easier to scrape off. It looks like an overgrown, flat-head soldering iron, but it doesn't get nearly THAT hot.

I am surprised how many people on here don’t put their vehicle in a garage. I guess I take that for granted (well maybe not if I keep reading about ice scrappers on windshields).
