If he had an open shot in any way and a decent lie......I take nothing baack fron what I posted.

If he had a tree branch in his way or something then I completely agree....but paid announcer walking alongside never mentioned anything of such....announcers agreed with me....they've done slightly more on the course than I have.........and for what it's worth.....it was a recliner.

SMH @ couch potatoes being able to email infractions to the Tour, resulting in 2 players being DQ'd this year! I think Phil and his caddie had made their decision, didnt matter what Bubba did on 18.

There's no way he gets it to stay on the green with that lie. Now hes above the hole and chipping to a front pin location. So eithe'rs hes in the water like jonny, or his chipping down hill and lucky to keep it on the green. He made the right call. If Bubba doesn't make a career sand save there, they go into playoffs. 9/10 times Bubba doesn't get up and down from the bunker. He barely made the putt as it is.

Bubba kinda sealed the tourney.......but if Phil had 100 opportunities to get down in 2 from there....he definately dows it way more providing he had an open shot. He might throw 5 or 6 out of a 100 in there from 74 yards.

Simple strategy. See what you need to do before you do it.

I know he would've been behind the green with a fast down hiller....but I'd like to see him give it a try from 20 yards away as opposed to 70.

Is anyone better around the green on crazy shots than Phil?

The fact is Bubba wasn't losing after he made that putt. Phil had a better chance at 4 from 80 yards out than above the green on 18. He was playing for 4 the whole time. Bubba just forced his hand after the putt.

3 went out the window after the tee shot

He definately had a better chance of 4 doing what he did.....but he needed 3....but only had 1 shot to do it.....I'd rather he have 2 shots knowing what he needs.

We both understand each others points.

Great play by Watson...he earned it with great play and clutch execution....good stuff. Phil made a 74 yard shot very climatic...wish it would've had a touch more spin....as did the announcers.

I was a 1.1 right out of high school.....so I went to college to play baseball......eh whatever?

I barely played from 1997-2009 but did get back last year but sadly never could regain my iron distances from the past.....everything else good but I'm probably right around a 6-7 handicap. Damn Irons!

I'm with Zwick on this one.

And honestly, you see how close Phil was to airmailing that 3rd shot? If you're Phil Mickelson, and you know you have to make an eagle, I personally love the decision to lay up and try and make the shot from 80 yds out.

Unfortuantely we don't know how close he would've came on my shot.....but we don't know that he wouldn't have chipped in with my scenario.....we know what he did on his scenario....close didn't get it.

I can see both sides of it. Obviously Phil thought his chances were better from 75 out than chipping from the back of the green. I still don't understand not waiting until Watson had finished up to see if he should at least take a crack at it from where he was at.
