not sad, stupid.

Very sad. I have lots of thoughts on this, but will refrain right now because I'm not in the mood. No doubt, I'll be back later though LOL

What are your thoughts on MTV's "16 and Pregnant" and "Teen Mom" shows that have created fame for the girls on there -- they are on just about every magazine cover at the check out lines. I've read that girls are getting pregnant just to be on this show because its giving fame to these girls.

the shows are stupid. and the girls are even more stupid to get pregnant for that reason. it just pisses me off because i know 2 awesome couples that physically can't have kids and want them for no reason other than to feel like a family. then dumb bitches like this get a tv show out of being pregnant when they are a complete frigging trianwreck and that baby's live is going to be a god damn grease fire.

Really think those shows are contributing to this?
I doubt that many girls are trying to get knocked up with the minute chance of being on this show.

.......but what I DO think these shows promote is that even though they often times depict that it isnt all peas and carrots for teen moms it does almost make it seem more acceptable in some sort of way.

THe slippery slope of life started well before you are I were born and will continue until the end of time. Each and every generation gets more and more lax on problem issues and seem more "acceptable". Teen pregnancy went down for quite awhile and has been growing a bit recently.

For the most part...it starts in the home with the parents.

I'd at least look at it as a contributing factor just because of stupid teen girl syndrome. Back when I was in high school, I remember a chick who had a baby bringing it in to show friends before school one day. I remember a couple of girls taking the "Awww...it's so cute...I want one!" attitude like doing so was no biggie.

Keep trying. Sometimes, persistence is the way to stardom. Rome wasn't built in a day.

I was shocked when I opened this link and saw that this school is in Memphis. I was sure it would be in Beverly Hills or Park Avenue.

How old is "old enough to make the wrong choices"? What is that even supposed to mean? I would agree that an 17 or 18 year old knows the full consequences of what he or she is doing, but I don't think a 14 year old fully understands the consequences.

Agree with Heretic, certainly these shows don't cause pregnancies, but there are some young girls that are looking to draw attention to themselves, for whatever reason.

BTW a Facebook friend who went to my HS is now bragging that she's about to be a grandmother (she's 36). Mike Judge may have been correct with Idiocracy.

the movie Idiocracy is slowly becoming a reality. It looks like these reality teen moms shows has really helped out in society.
