Eh, ATT got rid of their unlimited one last year too, it was a matter of time.

Luckily I just re-upped our VZW contract yesterday, I've got unlimited data through all 2012 now.

Which is why I need to hurry the F up and get my iPhone, like now..

Also, is it true that if you're using a Wi-Fi connection with the Verizon iPhone 4, you can actually do voice and data at the same time? Since the data wouldn't be interfering with the cellular network?

Yes, that is true.

No problem. Sidenote: it's true for all Verizon smartphones...not just the iPhone.

1 more VZW question, I know on VZW.com they waive activation fees on orders placed on Friday-Monday, do VZW retail stores do this as well? I'd call to find out, but obviously none are open at this time.

Is it also true that in order to keep both the phone and data connection, you must remain in the Wi-Fi Area?

Wow I can't imagine the next gen not being LTE/4G since both of the major carriers are going to LTE as we type. I am sure Apple will get some sales but the appeal of the iPhone 5 without LTE/4G goes way down.

Most customers don't understand anything about 3g or 4g. They see an apple product and they buy it. When the thunderbolt launches ina week or two the iphone will still probably out sell it

Why would Verizon release another version of an iPhone if its NOT going to be 4G. We are on the cusp of 4G technology, that it doesn't make sense to invest all that time and money into something that is just going to be obsolete in a matter of months?!

You're talking about Apple fans here. They love doing just that.

No, I'm not talking about Apple fans. I mean, why wouldn't Verizon go to Apple and say, basically, "Look... the next phone you give us... it better be 4G or we're not selling it." Why would Verizon want to put a product out there that's not top-of-the-line and risk tarnishing their image?!

You probably already figured this out......but if I had to guess I would say it is only available online.

The companies LOVE to screw over the stores with specials online that are too much to resist. They do this because then they do not pay any commission to the dealer/seller/company who sold it.

You can get INCREDIBLE deals online with the websites....from 150-200 dollars off.......no mail in rebates many times.......free activations you see often as well. Almost makes going into a store a waste of money.

How does it tarnish Verizon's image? The next iPhone is going to sell...so why would Verizon say no to it? What does Verizon care if customers are dumb enough to invest in an outdated technology for the next two years? Sure they'd rather have people signing up for 4g data plans instead of 3g plans for the additional revenue. But they'd rather get revenue from those customers coming out of contract at AT&T and switching over than having those same customers not have the option and just staying with AT&T.

It's not Apple's style to make significant changes after only a year on any of their products. Look at the iPhone 3g to the iPhone 3gs...minor changes. The major changes came on the iPhone 4. It's a two year cycle with Apple. So logically the next device wouldn't even be the iPhone 5...but something like the iPhone 4gs (or something similar). There won't be many changes...maybe more memory and a faster processor and a reworked antenna. But that would be it. The major change (i.e. a 4G device) wouldn't come until next year's device.

Forgive me if this has already been discussed, but does the iPhone not play nice with Gmail?

Im not sure, just know that its damn near instantaneous with my Droid(or any android phone) plus all my contacts and calendars are backed up to my account, so if I drop my phone in a toilet or beer all I have to do is log into my new phone and all my information is there in a matter of minutes.

It actually plays great with Gmail. What issues are you having?

Apple won't put 4G service in the phone b/c ATT has yet to make any LTE service public (just HSPA+) and Verizon is just starting. Most areas outside of major cities won't be covered by LTE service (ATT and Verizon) for a couple years. The other problem is battery life with first generation 4G phones. Apple won't compromise battery life for the extra data speed (see first gen iPhone). Like I said above, look for the A5 processor, larger screen, and thinner iPhone 5.

3G phones are not as out of data because of the emerging LTE networks.

Also, on a side note, the HTC Thunderbolt is said to have simultaneous Voice and Data over 3G CDMA. So the old girl (3G CDMA) isn't dead yet.

This would be a STRONG case for me then to go Droid... but idk... I'm pretty sure I'm going iPhone as soon as they announce a 4G version for Verizon.

None. I don't have an iPhone. I just thought I was reading that iPhones don't play nice with Google accounts, and that would suck personally for me since my personal email address is a Gmail account.

It is a very nice feature. It even saves your wifi keys and stuff, so if you upgrade your phone, it'll already have your passwords.

Also, with 2.2 (froyo), it will automatically download your apps for you

It goes back to Apple fans. 75% of the people buying the thing are sheep and would buy it even if it lacked the ability to make a phone call. All Verizon sees is $$$$$ from that group. There's more money in them than in the small group of people who actually buy the phone and can state a legitimate technological reason as to why they chose it. Also, that tech savvy minority will just buy the best non-Apple 4G phone if the iphone5 goes 3G. No one will go anywhere.

Basically true about most Mac products. The only thing Apple seems to excel at in that regard is the iPod Touch, and I think with Android taking off, it'll get some competition here soon.
