I am not disagreeing with you and saying Pryor didn't perform well, but you can't actually believe he isn't behind the curve in knowing the position. He still has problems reading defenses. Reading progressions and checking down he has gotten better. And I even saw improvement in when to throw it away, but he still doesn't look like a 3rd year starter at a premier school.
I think he can do all those things just fine. If Shugarts wasn't getting his ass blown off the edge all season you would have seen Pryor having a better chance to make reads in games against good teams rather than throwing up bad balls just trying to make plays. He did it as a result in the Sugar Bowl because of Shugarts, he did it at Wisconsin because of Shugarts. He also needs to calm down and stop trying to force plays. You think that defenses really changed THAT much in terms of coverages minus an extra man towards the end of a half? No, it was always Pryor trying to force things. His biggest problem isn't reading a defense, his biggest problem is letting the play develop like it should or taking what the defense gives him. He will do well for 20 attempts then all of a sudden it's like he says "fuck it, I'm making this shit happen NOW"
Also, I am not sure anyone on the 2006 schedule was better than the 2010 schedule minus Florida. Texas= Miami, Wisconsin = Michigan, Iowa was Iowa, Illinois was Illinois, pretty damn comparable. Smith had a stable of NFL players with him, Gonzo, Ginn, Hartline, Wells, Robiskie and a 2nd rounder in Pittman... Pryor has..... Posey?
