Yeah that has definitely worked out for the Browns the past 12 years. They should definitely keep disregarding FA even with a shit ton of cash to spend /sarcasm.

How else are they supposed to do it right now? They have the money to spend, why dont they spend some of it? I'm not saying to go out and throw 60 mil at Nnamdi but get something done.

Awesome, cant wait to the giants pwn the browns in a trade or use the browns to make another team pony up for trade.

Well...hopefully he makes some smart decisions and plugs holes with some mid-tier guys, There are still good LB's & DE's out there to be had. Not elite but guys that can be very effective. Those are probably the kind of guys they are going to HAVE to target. Sounds like they have the "Lebron James Syndrome"...nobody of premier talent wants to be here.

I am iffy on getting him because of him being 29 and speed being a big part of his game....once he loses a step, he is done

While it would have been nice to pick up a FA, i'm not too worried that they aren't getting any big name players. Obviously i wanted them to just because they have so much room to spend.

But keep in mind, MOST free agents are free agents because they have a flaw of soem sorts..whether its on the field or off the field. If they were big time, franchise type players; their teams would try all they could to bring them back. So it's not a big deal not pulling in free agents.

Yeah you're right, we should bring in big name FAs like Gary Baxter, Willie McGinnest, Ted Washington, Joe J, Jeff Garcia, Shaun Rogers, Brian Russell, Abe Elam, Shaun Smith, Corey Williams, Jamal Lewis, Joe Andruzzi, Hank Frarely, and LeCharles Bentley. /sarcasm.

This.

Heckart and Holmgren haven't been running the draft the last 12 years either.

True story. If they can get a LB, a DE and an OL before this FA ends, I'll be pleased. Heckert has CLEARY said they are "looking to get younger." It may be painful to watch, for a little while longer, but it WILL get better. We've waited since 1999...what the fuck is another couple of years?

DE Antwan Odom and CB Morgan Trent were released by the Bengals today. Two "mid-level" guys that could contribute imo. Odom is known for injuries but isn't horrible. Eric Wright going to Detroit on a one year deal, the Browns must not have been serious about him.

For those hoping we snag Osi - They're entertaining the thought, but clearly the Front Office wants to build this team with youth and draft picks. Unless the Giants are willing to let him go for a mid-level pick, he won't be a Brown. H&H value picks way too much.

LeCharles got hurt, just like any drafted player can get hurt (see kellen winslow). Shaun Rogers wasn't a free agent nice fail. Cry about Jamal all you want, but if it wasn't for him the Browns wouldn't have had a 10 win season in 2007. Same with Joe J.

The rest of the guys were just mid level pick ups, and I am pretty sure the Browns didn't have the type of cap space they have right now, and I am also confident there weren't as many good FAs those years as there is right now. THEY HAVE TO spend, and they are striking out.

#Browns were never interested in Vikings DE Ray Edwards, who signed 5 yr deal with Falcons. B's never called or returned calls, source said.

Who knows if this is true or not, but this shows that our own media really has no freaking idea what i going on. At least Grossi knows he is a moron and doesn't even try.

Like I said, no higher than a 4th for him. I think I'd rather focus on some of the other DE's out there.

It really wasn't our own media reporting the Ray Edwards stuff. It was pretty much the national guys. That could be for a couple reasons:
1 - our local media guys are awful
2 - Edwards' agent was throwing stuff out there to try to generate more interest in his client.

We gave up a 3rd and Leigh Bodden for Rogers, a 2nd round pick for Williams. I dont want to repeat the same mistake on Osi Failmenyoura

I am ok with that too. I don't want the Browns trading for anyone, I want them signing free agents. Don't give away any draft picks.

Apparently the team is really struggling with contracts this offseason. Phil Taylor's contract has hit an "unknown" snag.

See....here's the thing.... this "incarceratedBob" guy who claims to have hit on 11 predictions on where these guys are going to land could be a complete "hack." But....if that's the case, that makes ALL of the Insiders over on the OBR "hacks" too because Lane & the gang were saying that things were "close" between Edwards and the Browns...doesn't make sense.

Losing out on Edwards got me thinking, when the hell is that cocksucker Modell going to die anyways?

Glad to see a site like this exists.

http://www.ridertown.com/news/MDW/MDW.html

Amazing Quote; "This is why grown men who fought wars and played football without face masks cried when Art Modell announced he was moving the franchise to Baltimore. These players had turned into fans themselves and understood what the Browns meant to the community. In a word, they meant everything. "It was like losing a relative," Hall of Famer and season-ticket holder Lou Groza said. Or worse."

Fuck you modell.
