After hearing more & more about how Shurmur handled this, I definitely think it's a fireable offense but why do I somehow see the front office, as usual, spin it and keep his sorry ass around?

On another note, Colt McCoy's "daddy" may have done a helluva job of killing his career moving forward with his "my son has suffered multiple concussions since high school" comment. First time I've heard that. Kinda gives the front office an "out" to move forward with another QB.

I think the Browns are going to move on at the QB spot regardless of his concussion history.

Agree. Again, he doesn't have the weapons other QB's have had but he's failed in opportunities that were there. I think what these guys (front office) were looking at is "will Colt McCoy be the type of QB that raises the level of play of players around him (ala Manning, Brady, etc and I'm NOT comparing him to those guys) around him" OR 'will the personnel need to be upgraded significantly to make McCoy look good?"

I also think a lot of unrealistic expectations were put upon a 3rd round QB who has limited physical tools and has to survive on "toughness" and "moxie." I'll include myself as one of those who had high expectations. Kinda like Brady Quinn, there's a reason he fell in the draft.

I hated Quinn in college, after watching Jane against OSU I knew he didn't have it. You could say the same thing about Rodgers, and there being a reason he fell in the draft.

Actually, after hearing it play out, Shurmur shouldn't be dismissed for this Colt McCoy deal. Should he have put him back out there that soon? Probably not but Shurmur isn't a doctor and the training staff said he was good to go. I think they will likely get some kind of league punishment.

Just curious for those who are opposed to McCoy playing another year.

After seeing what Bradford has done these 2 seasons, do you think he is the answer for the Rams? He has looked anything but great in the games he has played this year. Other than the line (which the Browns line is not THAT much better) Bradford has more talent/weapons to work with, including a much better RB and #1 WR.

It seems like McCoy and Bradford are both in similar situations, except one guy was the #1 overall pick, and the other was a third round pick.

I disagree on the Rams line, they have the worst line in the league and its not close. Its 99 browns bad. Jason Smith is a monumental bust and injured, and Roger Stafford has taken a major step back and is also injured this season. That being said he has much better playmakers and a superior running game behind him.

At this point they can't give up on Bradford. Its too early and has promise/potential. Have to keep him upright and see what he can do next season. Now next season you're not seeing growth and he's getting pummeled its a different story.

It sucks that the rams are in this situation, but they commited way too much money to the kid to dump him now and go with another QB. The browns on the other hand, don't have this issue. Colt IMO doesn't have the potential that bradford does.

But what about this? What if St. Louis gets a new head coach? (They were talking about it on MNF.) They could decide that Bradford isn't the QB they want, and look to trade him. St. Louis is likely to have a Top 5 pick, and could go after one of the 3 QBs? (Luck, Barkley, RGIII) I bet anything the Browns are in on that deal, if it were to happen of course.

If he was willing to restructure his current contract I would definitely think hard about it. Depends on what our other options were. If we're out of the Luck/Barkley race and no other options were available it would be very enticing.

Also if we don't upgrade the rest of our team, aka get him someone to throw to, not sure what the point would be. A young QB needs some playmakers around him and the Browns currently don't have one.

Bradford has been really bad this year, but I think he showed more flashes and upside last season than McCoy has. Same thing with Josh Freeman (although he's in his 3rd year, not his 2nd). Plus, Bradford's contract makes it a lot more difficult to give up on him.

If I was the Rams I would give him 1 more season, but if he doesn't show significant strides next year I would be looking at other options.

The McCoy concussion fiasco is becoming a huge embarrassment to the franchise right now.

While not directly Shurmur's fault, it just drove home how in over his head and clueless he is out there. He is just not ready for this gig.

Yahoo sports is reporting he could in fact be on the hot seat heading into next year if things don't drastically turn around because he has shown no growth this year, and looks as lost in week 13 as he did week 1.

A mind blowing stat I heard on Rizzo's show this morning is that the Browns have not scored a 3rd quarter touchdown this season. We have 6 field goals in 13 games in the 3rd quarter and no TD's.

That right there tells anyone everything they would need to know about Pat Shurmurs competence to be a head coach. He clearly can't make adjustments at halftime, and you just can't win in the NFL with that level of ineptitude at the top. It is mind blowing.

BTW, I just saw that Brandon McDonald was released by Detroit on Friday. Not sure how I missed it or if it was discussed on here. Let me be the first to say, "LMAO!" Serves him right dipshit never learned how to tackle.
