The same running back whose injury problems enabled him to be the SEC's leading rusher. Just saying.

Is Hardesty actually injured, or is the team just taking extra precautions due to his prior injuries?

I see nothing wrong with that way of thinking. I would rather have him healthy for the last 10 games (if he misses the first 6) than have him miss the entire season again.

I agree, hated the pick as well.

No one is denying his ability as a RB. But when you don't have your health, I'm better than you.

I also hated the pick. When a running back has a history of injury problems, it tends to be a recurring pattern. His body just isn't built to be an NFL running back. You can have Barry Sanders' speed, Earl Campbell's power, and Marshall Faulk's hands for all I care but if you can't stay on the field you have ZERO worth on an NFL roster.

I'm not sure why people keep thinking he's injured still. They are bringing him along slowly after blowing out his knee less then a year ago. That's not something you just shake off. However he's gone two straight days of drills at full speed and I haven't heard anything about him starting the season on the PUP. Unless something happens I'd expect him to suit up for the first game.

So the Browns could see some Armond Smith early in the regular season if it's just Hillis and BJax as the 2 rbs? Is it set in stone that Pryor is going to play QB when/if he gets to the NFL? If he could just accept that he might not be able to play the position at the next level and could be more useful as say a WR and have a better career then just make the position switch? He would be almost unstoppable as a 6'6 wr who runs a 4.4 40.

Interesting reading that Norwood was getting more reps with the 1's in the slot than Little.

Heckert has MAJOR wood for Norwood. He's his 'Desean Jackson lite." I expect to see A LOT of Norwood and he has a decent shot at being their #3/4 WR.

This. He would be really good in the red zone especially.

Considering some of the QBs I've seen get a shot in the NFL the past several seasons who I thought should never be drafted to play QB -- and most of them getting drafted in the first round -- there's no reason why Pryor won't get a shot, too.

Do I think he'll be a good NFL QB? No. But it only takes one stupid GM to take a flyer and he makes enough money in a few years to set himself up for life (assuming he's not too stupid about his money.)

So our injury report after one pre-season game includes two of our starting LBs...

This is why Browns fans have been screaming down the house about LB depth since the NFL settled its labor issues. And why we continue to scream WTF where free agency is concerned. There have been some, still younger, decent LBers available that Cleveland has passed on.

I hope the front office knows what it's doing. I liked what I saw out of Brown and Smith, too, but it was against 2nd and 3rd stringers.

Yeah, LB depth is a real issue.

The guy who blogs for the AFC North on ESPN, forget his name, said that the Browns should go after Maybin b/c we needed depth. He's familiar with Jauron and shouldn't command a ton of money since he's a bust. Not the kind of moves I'm comfortable with, but don't be shocked. Someone will take a shot on him, simply because he's a former first round pick. (Mike Brown and Al Davis are pondering as we speak)

After teams start cutting players, I think you'll see some guys that will be worth a shot become suddenly available. I think the Browns FO will decide to "add depth" when that happens.

The author is a former Cleveland PD reporter who covered the Cavs at one point, I believe.

No thanks on Maybin.

The Browns aren't going to have a choice on picking up at least one LB; they simply have no depth to speak of right now.

Before Maybin I'd rather try to trade a low round pick for Taylor Mays and give him a shot at OLB. I know he's small now but let him learn the position and provide depth this year. If he hits the weights this offseason and gains 10-15 to put him closer to 245 he'd be more linebacker size.

I'd start to question Heckert quite a bit if he picked up a 228 lb DE (Maybin) who was a failure when converted to OLB.

Schefter said Jets and Bears are front runners for Maybin.

Have at it. Bears seem to like picking up 1st round busts (Gholston). You'd have thought old Rex Ryan would've learned his lesson after inheriting Gholston.
