I get what you mean. What kills me, is that he never gave a GOOD reason as to why he waited so long. He seemed to dodge every question asked of him during the presser the other day.

If we can keep the 12 commits we have, nab Frost, and finish with about 16, I'll consider that a win for Hoke. Good part is we'll have lots of schollys for next year, and there is a some good talent out there for 2012. A lot in Michigan even.

Kicker Matt Goudis decommited and is apparently headed for Miami. This kids seems flighty; Miami will be his 3rd commitment. A coaching change doesn't change anything for a kicker, and he even said that the free Michigan education was hard to turn down. Not sure what's up with this kid.

Whatever, you're a kicker.

It's already been confirmed that he's not coming. Would have been cool though.

CB said Hoke just offered a "big time kicker" and there's interest.

Hows it feel having Miles turn down 4.25 Million per, then turning down a higher offer?

Many expect Fisher to still choose UM. He is decommiting because he is visiting other schools.

Finally starting to hear some positive recruiting news.

> Michigan has extended an offer to Army All-American kicker Matt Wile, and they are in his top 3.
> 4* CB Stefan McClure has scheduled a visit and he says it's not just a courtesy to Hoke, who recruited him while at SDSU.
> Michigan is now a contender for 4* DB Floyd Raven. Raven had committed to Ole Miss but a miscommunication has him re-opening his recruitment.
> OL Chris Bryant has met with Hoke and staff and expect to hear more today.

I'm hoping that we'll get more/better defensive recruits now that we have someone who has his mind on it. I can kind of understand why higher rated players don't want to come and play for someone who essentially doesn't care what your side of the ball is trying to accomplish.

That's a little exaggerated I know, but it wouldn't surprise me if our defense improves by a big margin next year just because Hoke will be more involved than RR was.

this was passed on to me by a staunch Michigan fan, so take it in good humor, whether you agree or disagree

good hire by michigan today getting the DC from the ravens. Now they have to get some players there for him to coach up.

Can't believe Hoke/Carr pulled that off. Mattison should be a big selling point to recruits.

If you remember a few days back I mentioned using Lloyd as a bridge on the defensive side. Mattison was a defensive coach while Lloyd was D-Coordinator.

And then DC for Lloyd for 2 years.

I am thrilled to have him as a DC at Michigan. I would have loved RR to stay as the OC but that wont happen lol. Still Michigan is getting back to there old ways with good coaching IMO. They will be back in no time IMO or at least I hope so haha. GO BLUE!!! great day in AA.

Also Michigan needs to keep the guys they got and get 3 or 4 more solid guys and have a class of 14 or 15 IMO. They only had about 18 anyway so it wont be that bad. I just don't want them filling in spots with average guys. I would rather wait until next year and have a big class full of solid players.

Yeah I think the number is 18. If they fill all those, how many would they have in 2012?

Like someone else said, this is huge for recruiting if nothing else (which I know it's going to be huge on the field). The head of one of the best defenses in the NFL. "I know what it takes to succeed in the NFL, and I can help you get to that level if you come to Michigan." Our defense just improved some more.

Just in technique alone this should help their defense immediately next season. I still wouldn't have high hopes for a 'strong' D if I were a michigan fan as strong coaching can only take minimal talent so far and that's what I believe UM has on that side of the ball, bare minimum D-1 talent. Now two seasons of a successful NFL DC going out and getting talented kids and coaching them up, that's when I think we'll really see a difference on D for UM
