Please dont delete this. I am asking other ppls opinions thats all. If Massillon has won 22 titles dating back to 1922, yet none since the current format of almost 40 years ago. Why cant the Cleveland Browns call themselves 4 time Super Bowl champs? They won it 4 times, but they also were before the current format of 40 years?

Massillon has 22 state titles..that's all there is to it..if you refuse to acknowledge that..that's up to you..but that doesn't take away from the fact that they have those banners hanging and those trophies in the cases at there school. As was brought up earlier..does that mean Big Red shouldn't acknowledge there old Championships either? Dang..jealousy can be an evil thing.

Don't care about whether Massillon says 22 titles.Good for them.I have always wondered why BIGRED does not acknowledge their other championships.I mean I never knew they did.Maybe I haven't paid much attention.

No..it's not the same..it wasn't called the 'Super Bowl' when the Browns won the Championships. Had they won their Championships when they were called the 'Super Bowl'..then yes..obviously they would be Super Bowl Champions. But in Massillon's case..it was still the Ohio High School Football Championships win Massillon won them.

The Cleveland Browns won the NFL Championship 4 times. That is not the same thing as the Super Bowl. I think it was still recognized as state champions when Massillon won their 22 state titles and it's still refered to as the state championships today. That is the difference in my point of view, so in my mind they have won 22 state titles. For the record I am not a Massillon fan but I do respect their program and history.

Uh yeah..Big Red acknowledges those..anytime you ask..at least the ones I talk to..they don't have any shame in saying they won a Championship then..b/c obviously they shouldn't be ashamed of it.

So then if they changed the name of the current "Super Bowl" to "The really BIG Game", then Pittsburgh, San Francisco and Green Bay would have never won a championship?

No, it was called OHSAA state title, and to their credit, that seems to be what they refer to it as. It isnt a OHSAA state championship. OHSAA.ORG doesnt even refer to it as a state championship.

The only thing I would ask is why would someone from Dover of all places, care?

I mean go and try to figure out why your program is so behind and quit worrying about ours.

So now they don't have any Championships b/c it's a State Title now and not a State Championship? Am I reading that correctly?

Ok, maybe so, but I don't see anything wrong with them counting them. Don't most schools that won them during that era count them?

Yes, you read it correctly. Why ppl dont think it is ridiculous to claim 22 titles when exactly half were before 1950. I dunno. You yourself said the Browns cant be a title holder because times have changed. Massillon is living in the past a bit to much here. Is all ive ever been saying.

Well quite honestly..I don't see Massillon fans mentioning there 22 titles as much as I do the jealous fans that have nothing else to say about Massillon besides how they have never won a Championship. And if you're trying to discredit a State Title b/c now it's a State Title and not a State Championship..well..you're really stretching there. But I guess if that's all you got..then whatever. More power to ya.

Well what does that matter? There is more schools now then there was when Steuby won there titles too. So..once again..Big Red has no titles either. They've built more schools since then.

Maybe Massillon has that kind of tradition where they have earned the right to call them what they want.It is what it is.
