Can't imagine a more obscure thread from the resident oversigning representative.

I havent even posted on that thread, and no its not right for oversigning......and its not right for people to get improper benefits either (even though being minor).

Just keeping things in perspective here, if a players father can solicit 200K for services and not be suspended, win a Heisman and play in the NC game, even if it's true, I doubt a $100 tat would make a ripple.

They can just claim they didn't even notice they were getting a tattoo and everything will be ok.

That is the logical way of thinking. We all know the NCAA doesnt always do the logical thing. Also keep in mind, all this is one guy reporting a rumor on a Twitter account.

don't pay attention to him--he's a delusional manic depressive....however, I'll reserve judgement on this allegation until I see it posted by a reliable source -- I sure as hell hope there's nothing to it.

Sadly, the NCAA is likely to take more serious action on the tattoo case, especially since it doesn't involve an SEC school. :)

Sadly, yes the NCAA will probably be more criticial of this case because the player was actively involved in getting the benefit... if its true.

Oh, almost forgot....... THUG.

If the tattoo is the Big Kat barbwire tattoo, penalize them.

If it's the new Big Ten logo, don't penalize them.

Ohio State's players need to tell the NCAA they knew nothing about the tattoos. I'm sure that will satisfy them. It worked for Cash Newton.

it would be fitting for the buckeyes to get popped for this while the SEC gets away with much much worse.

This is the latest tweet from Biddle:
Now hearing it's not just about free tattoos. It's tats and signed photos. (My gut feeling is there will be no suspensions. We'll see.)

Only suspend them if they were getting gay things like barbed wire or "Asian" symbols.

from a Human Resources manager at The OSU (posted at 6:00am today):

A writer for one OSU site tweeted about there being a possible problem.

By the end of the day, the story had grown to there being 10 guys on the team getting suspended for receiving free tattoos.

It also spiraled up to saying the tats where for autographs and such.

The story grew bigger when players where said to be meeting with OSU Compliance officials and that the players had taken lawyers with them.

At the end of the day, OSU says there were no meetings with Compliance and all players practiced yesterday.

Yeah I'm going to go ahead and call BS on this rumor.

For one, how can you possibly prove it? It's not like artists take checks, money orders, or credit when being paid. They're basically all cash or GTFO. And you're lucky to get a receipt from the artist.

Secondly, what tattoo artist, in their right mind, is going to do a tat for free just because some 20 year old signed something for him? I just don't buy it. Taking that time out of the day to do a free tattoo is not good business and can really impact the financial livelihood of a tattoo artist. Tattooing is such an up and down business that I don't see any legit tattoo artist giving out free ink. It's quite possible that the artist gave players a break on the price...but that's not a violation. Artist's name their own prices at their own discretion. Prices vary from studio to studio, so it's not like there is some standard for it.

Also, how many OSU players have multiple tattoos? A bunch. So you're telling me that every time Terrelle Pryor or whoever goes in for ink, all they have to do is sign their name for some free work? Really, how much is a Pryor autograph even worth? MAYBE $50 if you're lucky? So you end up with 4 of those things laying around and you have basically only $200 in value, which is lower than the price of a good tattoo to start with. Plus you have to go through the trouble of selling that memoribilia.

Assuming the artist is a fan, college football fans aren't exactly known for their brainpower. If you've been on JJ before and here now, you should know that firsthand :p

If this is proved to be true, the NCAA really needs to set an example and hammer Ohio State with suspensions.

If they do not, this opens up all kinds of flood gates with these types of violations
