After Johnson-Koulianos was kicked off the team for drugs, rumors were that they tested the whole team and Robinson and Hampton quit and/or failed the test.

Interesting times in Iowa City. Next year could be really rough for them if some of the rumors are true.

That season sure went south in a hurry. No way those guys should've finished 7-5, with all 5 losses in games where they led in the 4th quarter. And they had Wisky, OSU, and MSU all at Iowa City this year. It'll be interesting how they respond next year.

FWIW, their message boards are predicting a rash of names will come out soon surrounding this whole mess. It could get ugly.

Yet Kirk Ferentz is paid more than Jim Tressel and has been named Big Ten COY three times while Tressel has never won. Real classy program he's running there at the moment.

I actually applaud him for making everyone take a drug test. Not many coaches would do that. I definitely wouldn't blame Kirk ferentz for the troubles

Eh, it's really hard not to put at least some onus of blame on the head coach.

I disagree. It depends on how the coach handles it IMHO. I don't mind second chances even, but I want to have faith that the coach is doing something about it to try to run a clean program. And I also don't expect the coaches to follow the kids around and know what they are doing 24/7.

Here's at least some real news: Adam Robinson has been suspended and Jewel Hampton is leaving the team:

Man... this story keeps getting bigger every time I check on it. Jeez, Johnson-Koulianos seemed like a good dude. Hard to believe he was channeling Tony Montana off of the field.

$30k cash? That's some pretty heavy stuff. This will get really interesting.

As for taking a drug test, I think all teams that play in postseason must administer drug tests. Not sure if it's everyone or random, but you always hear about guys who "violated team rules" and miss bowl games this time of the year.

They should just forfeit the bowl game and be done with it.

Agree about the ganj, but Ferentz is still on the hook for losing 5 games with a preseason top 10 team and having his team not being able to perform under expectations (again).

Well, they whipped MSU at home.

I still haven't figured this out either. In Tressel's time at OSU, no coach in the Big 10 has had the success he has had.

I disagree. Why punish the players who had nothing to do with this?

In all fairness, it's not like there's problems with his teams year after year. He obviously has a bad batch now, but it's not like Iowa has been a Fulmer Cup contender every year under Ferentz.

There's a strong rumor out there they will not be playing in their bowl game and that Arizona State will fill their spot.
