What is harder to believe is that a PR firm got paid hundreds of thousands (if not millions) to come up with it. Did they do any market research? These names suck.

Still awaiting the Big 10 to come out with the real logo and names of conferences.

I don't think this could have been handled any worse.

The logo is fine with me, as is the trophies/awards..

The division names suck though.

I don't know how much they spent but Delany did keep mentioning the firm that developed the new logo, but I can't remember their name. They should have hired the same company that developed the new Pac-10/Pac-12 logo that allows it to be done with each school's colors and includes the mountains for the new members that aren't really Pacific.

I agree, take the same concecpt and put a plowed field in the middle instead of a mountain. That would have been better. Anything would have been better.

That is hilarious!

Seriously, Delaney should be axed. How can someone with such poor judgment hold such a high position? We're in a get better or get out world, and this isn't only not getting better, it is flat out terrible.

This is embarrassing . . . . what a freaking joke.

Epic fail, Big Ten.

Seriously, is this real?

Unfortunately, yes. ESPN has the story on their front page. Unreal.

Now I know how Texas fans felt when they had to deal w/ the whole statue fiasco. This is basically an embarassment to the Big Ten. I can handle everything except the division names, although they limited themselves to names like that when they split the divisions like they did.

I must be the only Buckeye fan that is completely indifferent to the division names. A year from now (maybe less), nobody will care.

I don't mind the names of the trophies and awards, but the division names are horrible. I hope the conference listens to the backlash and decides to change the name to something else.

While the Division names do indeed SUCK, I can live with them. But what's up with that logo? Did a middle school artist win a contest? Come on Big 10! Pitiful

I like the logos.
Trophy names are cool, would rather see just one name, but I can live with it.
Leaders & Legends is dumb. They have been overthinking things from the beginning. Should have just split it East/West.

"Should have just split it East/West. "

Or Lakes and Plains (as any person with an IQ above 10 living in the midwest suggested). Or anything else remotely relevant.

Leaders & Legends? How about Dungeons & Dragons? Makes about as much sense. Delany should be fired. Now.

The difference with New Coke is that they tested it extensively in blind taste tests and the new flavor overwhelmingly beat out the old flavor. The marketing was just done poorly. That just proved that the brand name was more powerful than the actual product because people were upset about the change even though they liked the new flavor better. The new Big Ten logo is pretty bad though. Honestly I think I would have liked it better had they used a darker blue color and a more traditions varsity block font.

I do like how all 13 past, present, and future Big Ten teams are represented in the names of the Big Ten trophies. I also like that Ohio State has the most trophies named after their players/coaches with five (six if you count OSU alumnus Bo Schembechler).
