They have some pieces, but their QB's have been inept. Williams, Stewart, and Goodson could all be 1,000yd rushers given the opportunity to get the bulk of the carries. Gettis is a pretty good WR. Rosario is a nice pass catching TE. If they are healthy and have a competent QB, they could be a solid team right now, imo.

QBs are usually a crapshoot. I think that Luck is the best looking QB to come out in a while. Not that he will be the best, but I'd hope if my franchise needed a QB this would be the year to draft first and get him.

They have given up the second most sacks in the league and both Moore and Clausen have missed games due to concussions. I think the RBs are solid but they too have been banged up all year. Steve Smith is obviously a great WR, but they don't really have anyone else to take coverage away from him or anyone that can take advantage of the coverage he draws. There are rumors that John Fox will be shown the door and Jim Harbaugh will be his replacement. If that's the case they would take Luck #1. Luck has said recently that if Harbaugh is still at Stanford next year, he will likely stay in college. While neither Moore nor Clausen have lit it up this year, a lot of that can be placed on the OLine and it would make sense to address that before they draft another QB only to have him get beaten up next year.

When a team has bad or young QB's, it's sometimes hard to know(unless you watch all the games) if the sacks are on the offensive line or the failure of the QB to get rid of the ball. I honestly don't know the case in Carolina, because I've only watched the game they played against the Browns. No matter the case, I don't think you pass on Luck if you have the opportunity to get him. IMO, he is the most NFL ready QB to come out(if he does) in years.

I do agree that its not all on the OLine, but if they don't do much to upgrade the line, you run the same risk with Luck next year. He may very well be the next great QB in the league, but it won't really matter if he is running for his life or laying on his back or on the sideline in street clothes with a concussion.
