Do you honestly think the "everyone gets bad calls" thinking applies here? This has been one of the worst years for officiating I can remember, and not just for Pittsburgh games....across the league. Its downright laughable.
Yes, the everyone gets bad calls applies here.
I don't watch every Pittsburgh game, but I saw plenty of questionable calls go both ways today. There was obviously a hold on the receiver on the last drive which wasn't called... but at the same time Steeler fans on here (Not all of them, but plenty) are actively looking for every bad call they can find. People tend to see what they want to. I personally understand that officials don't get every call right, so I don't scour Browns games trying to point out every borderline call and potential mistake (whether it actually was the correct call or not). If I wanted too I'm sure I could find 10 or 15 to bitch about every week too.
For example, the fact that a borderline call (that was the RIGHT call even though I hate the fucking rule, Clark launched himself and led with the helmet) went against the Steelers and another borderline call didn't go for the Steelers doesn't mean that Pittsburgh was getting the short end of the stick all game. Guess what? Both offensive and defensive players hold and grab and push on every single play. It doesn't mean the refs are screwing anybody over. It just happens. When you are a more physical team that prides yourself on hitting opposing teams hard, which Pittsburgh is, you are going to get more personal foul penalties under the current rules. It isn't bullshit, it's the rules. Time to adjust to them.
If the refs were really against Pittsburgh they wouldn't have 10 wins.
Also, I'm starting to prefer the college replay system over the NFL. I agree that there has been a lot of shoddy refereeing over the course of the season, and I think it might be time for the booth to review every play on it's own rather than forcing the coaches to save up their 2 challenges and have to worry about whether they'll need it more later on. If the wrong call is made it SHOULD be overturned.
