Apparently there was an error discovered in the final BCS rankings that caused Boise to be ranked #11 instead of #10. (Obviously it had no bearing on the BCS bowls) but Boise's president sent a strongly worded letter to other presidents urging them to get to try and make the BCS more transparent.

Kustra (Boise prez) also had other gripes, "(Kustra) would prefer to see more significant changes in college football's method for ranking teams and declaring a national champion, and the recent BCS mistake rekindled aggravation with a system he complains treats schools from smaller conferences like second-class citizens"

Well, it damn sure shouldn't have happened, I'll agree with that and that alone.

The rest of it is a caste member who agreed to the system himself and is now sour grapin' it to death.

This is true. They're in a tailspin right now, with Gee's comments, while out of line, they were also true, TCU headed to the Big East, their place kicker missing two under 30 yards, and the coup de gras of getting shafted out of the top ten. They have to vent somewhere I suppose.

Actually Gee looked like a gigantic hypocrite insulting their schedules when Ohio State's is an absolute disgrace. I really like the guy and think he's one of the best university presidents in the country, but he shouldn't throw stones when the 'shoe is made of glass.

As for the story, this would only have been a big issue if it had cost someone a bowl bid they wanted. Boise State's football team fucked itself.

yeah we keep going back to Gee's comments. Definitely picked a bad year to say it. The conferences that the Boise and TCU play in are not the Big 10, yes, but when you need to consider their schedules as a whole. Once again, both had worse schedules than the Buckeyes, but the difference wasn't as drastic as he would have you believe.

I think what's weird about the whole BCS, non-BCS and strength of schedule is this...why are they Div-1A, or FBS if you will, if they are not good or big enough to have a chance at the BCS title? Doesn't that negate the whole purpose of the original divisions anyway? Why not have them be FCS, or division 2? I mean seriously, if they are never going to be given a fair chance, why are they in the same division?

It's the only division in all of sports that works this way, and it's retarded.

The are 1A (FBS) because the leftovers from the big boys generates more $$$$$ than winning a championship at a lower level.

Yeah, they CHOOSE to go after those scraps knowing full well the pros and cons of the system. It is all about money, but then they turn around and play the woe is me card because the system ... is all about money.

Yep definitely all about the money. The BCS is a great cash cow for the major conferences. They throw some bones to the mid-majors and it satisfies the mid-majors for the most part. However, the upper tier mid-majors do get kind of crapped on, especially in the bowl season. (Temple not going bowling, Boise playing in some bowl I've never heard of while UCONN in a BCS game, etc)

The fact is, they know the rules and willingly play the game and it sometimes works out for them. This is the system we have, it sucks as a fan, but until an Ohio State or Florida gets left out of the National Championship while being undefeated, we aren't going to see a change

Already had Auburn get left out, if an SEC team getting left out doesn't change anything I doubt OSU/Florida would be any different.

It's a pipe dream, not going to happen.

Auburn is not Florida/Ohio State haha far from it actually. Their fanbase pretty much rolled over when that happened. There would have been a riot if Ohio State was left out.

Still don't see how anything would have changed. BCS wouldn't care that they were burning couches in Gainesville and Columbus.
