You can still do that in Michigan. Plastic, cans, or glass beer/pop 10 cents.

Nevermind lol. I graduated in 2004 but had some cousins graduate in the early 90s and played on 2 of Skip's championship teams.

High School Basketball games were PACKED!

Not knowing when the next snow storm was coming, you just woke up and saw the ground was covered.

Drinking and driving. I know that sounds horrible but people never thought twice about doing it then. I'm glad the way it is now.

Earning a trophy in little league because your team won the league. 2nd place and below didn't get an award.

Rotary dial telephone with no caller ID. Every time you answered the phone, no matter what. You had no idea who it was, but then there were no telemarketers.

Knocking on your buddies door to see if they wanted to play some ball.

Parents threatening to take their belt off when you were screwing around. The one time they actually followed through with it, you learned your lesson. And right before your parent starts whailing away on you with the belt they say, "this is going to hurt me a lot more than it hurts you" and now I know what they meant.

Men never said the "F" word in front of ladies.

I think the biggest thing here is the price of admission. It's EXPENSIVE to take a family to a game!

Party telephone lines.

Not the kind you call and try to hook up with strangers, but the kind where you and your neighbors all shared a telephone line. If they were on the phone you had to wait until they finished their converstation before you could use the phone.

Going to the Movie Rental store to rent a movie. When you get there they are out of "Back to the Future" but the owner tells you it will be back in a few days.

VCR's cost like $300

Microwaves were expensive but I remember what it was like before we had them.

Only time guys cried back then was when they lost a highly contested high school football game, then all the emotions came to a head.

Chewing gum in school was NOT permitted, nor could you wear shorts.

Men wearing ear rings was considered gay and women didn't have tattoos.

You had a crazy uncle because he drank beer and wine 24/7 but never didn't anything sexual to minors.

Riding the bus to school.

You had to be home when the street lights came on.

Playing pick up basketball games and you wouldn't leave the court until you lost....and you didn't want to lose so you might get home after the streetlights came on. You use that as an excuse when you get home and your parents are somewhat OK with it.

Wow, this thread has made me so nostagic. So many wonderful memories being mentioned. I was feeling all warm and fuzzy and then I read this and it hit me just the right way and I lost it...
Teachers in their smoking lounge. When you opened the door you thought the Miami Hurricanes were running out.
Freaking hilarious! Also, I still make Chef Boyardee pizzas at home and still love them! Thanks for nice thread of memories.
