1. Watching just about everyone play last year (and being at the game) I am convinced the best two teams in the country by far were Bama and Florida. Florida would have likely beaten Texas convincingly as well last January. If you don' t believe it, consider this: That Florida team was the defending national champions and 11-1 going into that game. They returned a good bulk of the team from the year before.
2. It's just not fair to talk about how UC did in that game considering the coach bailed on them (after telling them he was staying and then them finding out at the sports banquet), the Gators were inspired by Tebow's last game and Urban Meyer's "I'm leaving/I'm staying".

The thing is..Bama didnt really beat Texas that handily. If I recall, Texas had the ball towards the end of the game there with a chance to tie it. This is with their backup qb, who played like total shit the first half

I agree, neither should be a AQ. The elite four confernces should get the AQ. Maybe the next two top ranked from the non-top ranked should get the next two AQ.

I'm all for doing away completely with AQ, but it is never gonna happen. And it isn't likely that any of the existing big six are ever going to lose AQ status either, regardless of the bitching or even the mediocre champions representing those conferences.

^^ Agreed. For those of you clamoring for the MWC to get a bid over the BE, your time has passed. The good teams in the conference have all left, except Boise who just joined and Air Force who will likely go independent very soon. The BE will not be losing their bid. Sorry, keep hating...

Probably the best big east team (i know they lost to uconn but i still think wvu is better) is getting their shit ran by a middle of the road acc team.

WVU looked bad tonight. You can't turn the ball over that many times and expect to come out with a W.

That being said, NC State finished third in the ACC. Not a "middle of the road" ACC team by any stretch of the imagination. I watched the Wolfpack on a few occasions this year and honestly I am surprised they did not win the ACC. I know they lost a couple ball games by a few points, I believe Clemson may have beat the on a last second TD.

In past years though, the ACC has had member schools win or play for the National Championship!! So in their down years they are sliding by on reputation. What past history does the Big East have in winning, or playing for national Championships? Im not agreeing or disagreeing...................just telling you why I think the Big East backlash is coming out now. Its what has your conference done in the last decade!!

Pitt during the early 80's was a long time ago!!

Problem for the Big East is their team that played and won national titles (The U) went to the ACC. So while the Big East has had member schools win national titles, that member school is gone.

ACC is full of teams that have won National Championships:

Fla State.
Clemson
Miami
GA Tech
Maryland
BC

All these teams have won Nat championships.

Curious about the BC title. Are you talking about 1940? Do they really claim that (or am I missing another one)?

NC State finished technically 4th as Maryland beat them the last week, moving Maryland to 3rd in the tiebreaker. The Terps were an INT at the goaline against FSU to going to the ACC Title game. But, NC St moved to the ballgame as Maryland could not bring the fans to the bowl game.

But, NC St. did have a great game last night.
Also, Maryland is ahead 37-13 on ECU right now, moving the ACC to 2-1, with the BE at 1-1

Well the bowl season has wrapped up. The Big East was 1-1 head to head with the ACC. The Big East finished 4-2 and the ACC was 4-5. The ACC teams lost two games to non-AQ schools. The Big East lost their BCS bowl game by 28, VTech was also blown out by a similar margin. The Big East's signature win was South Florida over Clemson, the ACC's signature win was Florida State over South Carolina.

I think we can all agree that both conferences suck at this point.
