Adams had a very solid year this season. I have been more than happy with his play. LT has been troublesome for us in the past and this year that position finally wasn't a glowing weakness for the offense.

I will say I was disappointed in Adams vs UM. He seemed like he was getting beat a lot vs an undersized DE. Still, he had a very good year and I expected him to be 2nd team. I didn't think he was 1st team worthy but oh well, congratulations to him.

I'd say Shugarts and his bum foot was the biggest O-Line issue this year

For about every 10 good things I hear about Pryor as a person, I hear 1 or 2 bad things. A majority of the people who have been around him will tell you that he's actually not that awful of a dude. But there's always a couple people who either judge him, or are jealous of him, or catch him on a bad day and spoil his reputation as a person. I know that the few times I've been around TP, he's been nothing but good to the people around him, including myself. To me, he actually comes off as a pretty shy, yet very cool guy. I just think his whole recruiting saga and the hype give people the wrong idea about him. Does he have a bit of an ego? Sure he does. But his ego is no worse than basically every other player on OSU's roster that I've met or hung out with at sometime or another.

I've seen him out and about a few times and he seems like he is actually pretty laid back. everytime I have seen him he is always just joking around with people.

I don't think that many here are arguing that Tressel should have won it this year. Personally I believe that both Dantonio and Belima were more deserving of the award this year. Everyone's gripe is that Tressel has won the conference seven times and now he's won it six times in a row and yet has never been named Big Ten COY. You think at some point in the past then years he would have been recognized for what he is: the best coach in the conference.

On a side note, the next time you post you might want to do a quick Google search so you know who you're talking about (Wisconsin coach Brent Bilema). While I agree with everything you said, when you openly admit you don't know the person's name that you're talking about it makes you sound ignorant and like you don't know what you're talking about at all. Just some friendly advice.

They talked about this on the Scott Van Pelt show today on ESPN. They said it further helps those that think that preseason rankings are pointless and they should after the first 2-3 weeks.

This is where the view that a Coach of the Year somehow has to overachieve. It's exceptionally hard to remain consistently good and on top. For that to happen, there has to be excellent coaching and cohesion at work. Tressel did all that and won a title that ties an all-time record for most conference titles in a row. He tied a coach who is in the Hall of Fame.

How is that not just as impressive -- if not more so -- than someone whose team manages to tie for the title, when that team didn't even play the defending champion?

Tressel gets screwed over for being a consistently excellent coach.

I don't know what more criteria you need for coach of the year than someone who is consistently at the top of the league.

How is it more impressive than someone whose team manages to tie for the title, when that team didn't play one of teams tied for the title, and lost to the other tied team?

Considering Wisconsin played both OSU and MSU and beat OSU, no.

And before you go off the deep end again, I'm not saying Tressel is a bad coach or anything similar. I've already said he should have won a handful of COYs looking back on his time at OSU as a whole. Each year individually a case can be made for another coach to be voted COY and that's how it has worked out so far.

no need to be a smart ass, I was just asking--if you were referring to OSU, then your post makes no sense, as it was obviously in response to writerbuckeye's post..and it couldn't be referring to MSU, as they beat the other tied team..just askin'

He was saying Dantonio's job wasn't as impressive as Tressel's because he didn't play the defending champion, and that defending champion tied for the title. I was TRYING to say that it could be said Tressel's job wasn't as impressive as Dantonio's because he didn't play one of the tied teams and lost to the other. Just looking at it from the other perspective.

Tress could giva rat's ass about some ridiculous COY award. Read his book...this is one very confident individual who is extremely satisfied with his life to date but doesn't take his success for granted. Jim Tressel is measured only by Jim Tressel.

lotz---gotcha', and I agree...JT's done an outstanding job in his tenure as coach, but it seems that each and every year somebody else did something just a little bit better, in that particular season--his day will come.

I wouldn't necessarily say they've done a better job than Tressel, but rather they have overachieved where as Tressel's team has either done what they are supposed to do or underperformed slightly. Looking at the whole body of work, there is no doubt Tressel has proven to be the best coach in the Big Ten since he arrived.

It's tough to say because they're different people playing in different systems against different opponents with different quality around them. If you're Wisconsin, would you really want Denard? Or if you're Michigan, would you really want Tolzein? Different systems fit better for different players, so I think simply saying, "How many coaches want to replace their starter with this guy?" is perhaps not super realistic.

I think Pryor is probably the second most athletically gifted QB in the B10 behind Robinson, though Pryor is much more durable and appears to be more clutch. But Pryor has always been surrounded by 5* talent--how would he do on a team with 2-3* talent where he is the only playmaker (a la Persa)? That's a tough comparison to make. Generally, I think the coaches who watch these games every week and game plan for particular players have a better sense of who is deserving than the fans do, though I've no doubt that there is a lot of politicking involved.

Yep, he does joke around a lot too, which is something I didn't really expect either. I know I should never feel bad for a DI athlete who is getting a free education for playing football, but after meeting Pryor, I do kind of feel bad for him because he is nothing like what people try to make him out to be and it seems like he is under the biggest microscope in all of college football.

I dont have to know his name to know he did better than Tressel.. Tressel should have won it some previous year.. but it has to be a year where he wins it outright. when you're the preseason pick to win the B10 you better win it outright to be chosen as COY if you share it you underachieved, because you lost to a team you were picked to beat. So of his 6 straight titles how many were outright or how many times was he not picked to win the B10? thats the year he shoulda won it.
