Shit happens. UVA hits 10/13 three's(77%) and 25 out of 30 free throws(83%).This from a team that was hitting 39% of their threes and 68% of their free throws.

haha...I guess the 11-1, rather than 10-1, should have clued me in. Just a natural reaction, I suppose.

Very surprised to see UVA beat Minny, despite Minny missing a couple of starters.
I had the Big Ten 6-5, but now I think the ACC takes it 6-5.

Honestly can't say I am too surprised. When you have TWO starters out...its going to affect you big time. I don't care what team you are in the country, you lose two starters, your going to struggle.

Does anyone know the system for pairing these teams in the challenge? I thought it went based of off conference finish from the previous year but looking at some of these matchups, that's obviously not the case. Do they just randomly match up the teams?

That's what I thought too. Weird.

With the loss by the Goofers, I see the ACC reclaiming the "crown".

I don't believe there is a system in place. I believe they try to set up the best possible matchups that they can depending on home/away game situations. If there is a system..it sure doesn't make any sense at all.

Did they ever match them up based on the previous years finish? I swear that's how they did it...

There is no system. They pick the match-ups that will produce the best games (and more importantly, the best TV ratings).
I think the only stipulation is the home and away altering.

I guess then I don't understand why they have OSU playing Florida State as opposed to Duke or UNC.

I dont know. But that is what I was told by Dan Shulman a few years ago when IU hosted Duke. He said, they look for the best teams and sort of "pod" them. Then from those pods they try to make the best TV match-ups (stressed it was an ESPN event after-all). Illinois-UNC probably draws in a bigger audience than OSU-UNC because Illinois has a bigger basketball following. Im sure they did their ratings homework when OSU played UNC the past few years.

Northwestern is stomping all over Georgia Tech, up 20 early in the 2nd half.
Iowa leads Wake Forest by 12 at half, which is pretty surprising to me even though Wake has been bad this year.

I didn't think Northwestern was even able to score 70 in a game, let a lone a half and a few minutes.

Iowa is getting spanked in the 2nd half and now trails by 7. That's more what I expected.

Wake wins on a buzzer beater from "Somewhere In The Parking Lot"...according to a friend of mine.

That kid from Wake was deep. But when you hit 6 threes in a half, nothing is out of range. Iowa played like Iowa in the 2nd half.

John Shurna is 18/27 on 3s so far this year for Northwestern.
It's too bad Coble decided not to come back, I think they'd be a tourney team for sure.

Just saw the highlight of the game winner...it wasn't THAT deep.

Its tough to get deeper than that and not have it be a heave versus a true shot. I mean, "from the parking lot" is drastic, but it was pretty damn deep.

Yeah that's kinda what I meant lol
I just read that and was like "shit, he must have hit a half courter or something."

Just like Duke would lose 4/5 games the way the played against unranked Marq. Would you agree? Now STFU and go away.

Just as I thought, the Iowa and Wake game was painful to watch.
The next 9 years of home and homes with Wake and Xavier hopefully feature better teams..God they looked awful. Iowa included.

It wasn't T.J. deep, but the Wake shot was certainly spectacular. What a play -- and win -- for the Atlantic Coast! Thank you Wake, during what is otherwise a truly pathetic season for you.
