I always thought Reed was legit. Someone you definitely had to gameplan around. I am not sure he is back to 100% after the injury however.

McClain and Ngata were both fined today by the league.

No flags, but fined.....nice job NFL.

As for the best safety argument. That the choice is obvious. It might not have been a few seasons ago, but Troy has definitely separated himself as the best.

No, there is definitely still a debate. Reed has been back for 5 games now and has 4 picks and a forced fumble. He also isn't 100 percent. Troy has been playing all season and has 4 picks. They both have the intangibles that don't show up on a stat sheet. We can agree to disagree all day about this issue but there is still a debate.

The only ones debating it are Steelers haters and Ravens fans. Ask any NFL GM and you will see how much of a "debate" there really is.

Like I said, a few years ago it was a tossup and I'm not discrediting Reed at all. He's one of my favorite players in the game.

I'm sticking with my statement. I don't know any NFL GM's but I doubt it would be unanimous. Troy happened to make the big play Sunday so we may look at it like he is the better safety but there have been games where Reed makes the big play and Troy is quiet. You can keep Troy and I will keep Reed.

I'll take Troy. He has more rings. And that's what the NFL is all about from a fan's perspective......Super Bowls.

Better against the run and blitzing-Polamalu

Better in pass coverage-Reed

Id say its still a toss up between the 2 when both are @ 100%

I think it is a toss up as well, but I would take Reed. I think Troy makes big plays, but gets out of position a lot and is more likely to get burnt.

The difference is Ed Reed is mostly a safety that covers the back and gets interceptions.

Polamalu is what a strong safety should be in coming up to support the run, playing at the line of scrimmage sometimes but he still has the speed and cover skills to play in the back. For example, Bob Sanders when healthy is what a strong safety is supposed to be, like Polamalu, but he doesn't have Polamalu's range in coverage.

That is more LeBeau's schemes than anything. You always see him catching up to the play because of where LeBeau had him going. It also looks like he is out of position in their zone defense, but that is typically the corner whiffing on coverage while Troy plays his zone.
