Kyle Simmons selected to QB the North team in the Ohiucollegefootball.com All Star game April 23 , 5pm Columbus Crew Stadium. This is an all division All Star team made up of Ohio college seniors. 2nd year for the event. I think the website link is http://www.ohiocollegefootball.com/members/ocf/adminpages/OCFSeniorBowl congrats to Kyle. I think the roster will be released next week.

We have all the pieces, but who's going to be on the line this coming year? Alot of question marks on the line for both sides of the ball.

We'll be fine! lol we always say we have a lot of question marks and the youngsters always pull through for us.....I'd say we are spoiled, very spoiled here in Orrville!

Linemen take your pick: White, Vierheller, Lehtomaki, Vance, Summers, Brown, Lemon, Neer, and a move in to be named later. Any incoming freshman that could help?

He's in the same category as the line man to be named later.

Is the lineman currently a Wooster student? The housing over here is horrific. :)

Congratulations on your recent recognition Flash. Well deserved.

Maybe a couple of years ago, but he will be a senior next season and owes his last year to the team. However if I could rewind the clock things might be different.

Understandable and I wish him the best of luck!

That's interesting that you say that though...

Speaking of awards Mason Monheim choosen in the top 100 players in Ohio by Rivals.com at No. 31.

31. Mason Monheim
Outside Linebacker ... Orrville

Vitals: 6-1 / 205

Monheim is another guy we think is generally underappreciated around the state. He may not the biggest guy, but he's very smart, reads plays well, and when he finds the ball, he gets there in a hurry. Obviously, he has weight to add, but I'll take his instincts, closing speed, aggressiveness and all around football smarts any day and put the weight on later. Illinois and others have offered. - Allen Trieu

In fairness to Allen Trieu it is www.Scout.com that has come up with the top 100 in Ohio and has mason at #31. Mir. Trieu has since updated Mason's stat to the current 215lbs. As well he will be adding a Jr highlight link in a couple days. Nice to get some exposure from these national sites. In addition Ohio State'e fanatic site www.bucknuts.com which is now a new location at www.ohiostate.247sports.com has just released their list of the State's top 50 and have Mason at #42.

Also I can't remember which list as so many are coming out but the Lex QB and the Tight end (Michaels and Kearns) are both on the list as well. Sounds like Lex will have a dynamic duo.

Right now, if I'm ranking needed upgrades to stadium, field turf isn't at the top.

1. New track. I'd have to think we're close to losing the Div 2. district meet if we can resurface the track.
2. Bathroom upgrades.
3. New Scoreboard.
4. Turf.

You could take care of all at once, but you're talking $2 million-ish.

If that. :)

I've often thought about a sponsorship drive...raise a little money for the site, give half to the athletics department. Give t-shirts to donors...etc.

Not sure I want to deal with all the headaches that would come with it though.

Just got word that Siegrist a junior to be, is coming out for football....good size about 6'2" 215 and could add depth to the o-line if he doesn't get a starting spot. Played from 7-9th grade but took time off last year (played soccer)....had some issues with some of the seniors on the team, but is ready to come back and help the team out.

So now our lineman are:
White, Vierheller, Lehtomaki, Vance, Summers, Brown, Lemon, Siegrist, and a move in to be named later. Neer would probably be TE.

New light poles next year. The same lights, but new poles. There has been serious talk about the track, but no decisions.

New light poles "next year" means this year (2011), right.

Are they same old wood poles or are we springing for metal ones?

I'm guessing wood, but hoping for metal. That would look real sharp with our newer bleachers.

They got new lights last year, and should've just got new poles then haha. They better keep the poles back behind the bleachers too....I dont want to be looking around poles to watch the game.

I find it real hard to get my hopes up for kids who decide to play football one year and then they don't play for a year or two and then they decide to play again. I will be pulling for them to be able to contribute and relish the idea of eating my words. It may be that the passion was there all along and now they realize it since they stepped away, I hope so, but I will put my faith in the kids who were there all off season and all those 2 and 3 a days getting their butts kicked by the older guys. I will certainly be pulling for them all and hoping that they finally "see the light" but I am not sure if the passion is there. Give me kids who are mentally tough and have the passion no matter what their size any day. You have to want to play for a bigger reason than just "You". It is all about being a Red Rider football player from the inside out, not the other way around. there are plenty of you out there who know what I mean. Good luck to all the guys....sounds like the weight room is pretty packed now that bball is over for those kids. Now is when we win those close games!
