My fantasy pick with the flat. Grrrr. Still early, and a caution came out, so he only went a lap down. Hope he can claw his way back to the front. Need at least a Top 10.

Jr with back to back top 10's. I know it is early, but, listening to his in car all day, i have to say things are on the up. He sounds more relaxed behind the wheel, can worry bout just driving the car, and is driving smoother. Steve does something the last two CC's failed to do,,,,,, Talk to Jr the entire race. He keeps asking how th...e car feels, what it needs, take a drink, check switches, random chatter, lap times,,,,,,,,,, all race. They joke during the race, and every chance Steve has, he tells Jr how good he is doing. He is a salesman, and a cheerleader, and its exactly what Jr needed. A real CC. Steve even apologized after the race, about taking 4 tires on the last pit stop. Said he wanted to take 2, but did not want them to fall off before the 25 laps ended, giving Jr a potentially outside top 10 finish. Said he wanted to make sure Jr had 4 fresh ones, in case a late race caution came out.
And it does not seem to have effected the other drivers, with the moves Big H made. All teams seem to be doing well, minus some bad luck here and there.
Im liking this year so far, and cant wait for Bristol!!!

Actually, he would always tell them "he's trying to drive a race car here." Jr never wanted to be talked to during the race unless he needed to. But you are right, I've tuned in a couple of times to his radio. Seems like Steve says fuck that, I'm talking whether you like it or not. Lol

http://nascar.speedtv.com/article/cup-earnhardt-jr-excited-and-relieved/
“Failure at this point is completely unacceptable, and I’ve got to put it all out on the line, do everything I can to make this work,” Earnhardt Jr. said. “If it don’t work with [Letarte], I’ve got nowhere else to go. I’ve got no other options really other than race myself into oblivion with my own [Nationwide] team and Tony [Eury] Jr. and them guys and what the hell.
“But I want this to work. I want to race Cup. I want to be in the COT the rest of my career as long as I can. I want to be successful and so I’m just trying to work hard, man.”
Letarte and Earnhardt Jr. have spent more time together after practice and qualifying sessions. They talked with the engineers Saturday night and decided on some key changes for Sunday.
“It’s fun in this hauler, man,” Earnhardt Jr. said. “When you’re running good, everything is easier to do. But I really enjoy brainstorming with Steve, and I think it makes me smarter working with him – I become better at helping him and just in a short period of time.

Jr was also in the top 10-15 when he got caught up in that late Daytona wreck wasn't he?
Like him or not, if there is a guy who will help fill all these empty seats and drive up ratings Jr is that one guy.

I'll hold out until I see how he overcomes things when it takes a turn for the worse. Jr is always happy go lucky at the beginning of the season, but as soon as something bad goes wrong, it's like it takes a major hit to his confidence and he starts to doubt himself too much. Hopefully Letarte can keep him motivated when the times are tough throughout the season like he can when he's running well.

It appears all the changes are working. Ratings for Vegas are in, and they are up 29% over last year. Been climbing every week. It's obviously working NASCAR, let's not fuck it up with anymore changes this season. I've actually enjoyed all the races so far this year. Couldn't say that last year, that's for sure.

Yeah, he was in the Top 15. Couldn't be going to a better track for Jr to finally get a one. No denying he's mastered Bristol. Only 1 win there, but he always runs well there, and always seems to have to come from the back too.

One thing from the race sunday,,, At one point early in the race Jr was talking about his seat, and how it was formed. Said that is was killing his right shoulder, and asked Steve if they could go to the shop first thing and have it looked at. Maybe make new seats. Said all his body weight was on his shoulder. Said it was very uncomfortable. Yet I love how people deny that drivers are true athletes. Imagine driving for three hours, with all your weight forced on one shoulder. And still having to concentrate on driving at 180 mph. He said besides his shoulder, the only other thing touching the seat was his butt.

No, i thought he was pretty far back in the pack? It was after he cut that tire down, and had to make a pit stop,,,,

Gigapixel cam at Daytona. I am not in it, I was in the grassy shade next to the bldg. or in the fanzone at the far end. I don't remember it being that crowded. Some of it is photoshopped, like Bayne's car and the Thunderbirds flyover was before lap 21. Still pretty cool, like the Steelers AFC game picture I saw.

Kasey Kahne wins Darlington truck race. Caution flew with 8 to go, Kahne leading. KK asked on his radio 'Do you want me to pit?' Crew chief freaks, 'NO NO NO'. Kahne laughs, says 'Relax, I was just kidding.'

Kurt Busch got beat by a girl in the Gatornationals yesterday. Good thing drag racing is not a sport, lol.

After the day he had Saturday, I'm sure he'll take it. Not bad for his first time out. Especially in the Pro Stock class, which takes years to perfect. Pretty good debut.

Yeah I watched it, very close race. He was enjoying it, just getting in the 16. Its always been the toughest class.
