Other than that, I agree with COA's list.

He's been terrible all year.

Dan Gilberts tweet after the game:

cavsdan:
Cleveland, good Browns held on for you today...No chance Carolina was hitting FG at end. Things like that don't happen anymore in Cleveland

Gilbert is such an optimistic guy. He really believes in the city of Cleveland turning things around. The city could use a lot more Dan Gilberts.

Pretty much agree with what COA said especially about Haden and about Hillis and Vickers being Pro Bowlers. (Not sure about Thomas. He hasn't been bad but he hasn't been up to his stellar self all year). As for Cribbs, today especially you could tell he was still hurt. He hasn't played as well all year but today was the worst. I'm just glad we finally managed to win a game like that. We've lost plenty of games we had no business losing and that needs to end if we want to be taken seriously as a contender in the coming years.

So if Cribbs has lost his pop as a return Guy to you try to incorporate him more into the offense? I think he is good for the team, but what capacity is he most effective in, if he isn't the dynamic return man he has been in the past?

He has not lost his step. He's injured.

Before that, teams were kicking away from him. It's very rare for kickoff returns and punt returns to happen, but people have expectations from Cribbs that he should do it every game.

This.
You could tell yesterday he wasn't close to 100%. He sure didn't look like he lost anything 2 weeks ago when he turned that short pass into a long run. Teams just don't kick to him anymore.

2. Peyton Hillis will make the Pro Bowl with his incredible season, but he’d better give some of his contract bonus to Joe Thomas. The big tackle cemented his status as the best all-around LT in the league with a dominating performance against Carolina. There were several plays where he initiated three blocks, all of them successful.

im watching first and ten right now.. they were making fun of the browns, again. but the followed with the ravens and steelers meeting coming up. obviously the browns aren't going to win the division. so who would you rather have win the afcn the ravens or steelers?

cribbs dislocated almost every toe in his foot. get off his back.

i did read the post before posting mom. every team keys on him. he was the only playmaker on offense we had. he is trying to take every kick to the house. then he has to turn around and play offense. we cant have it both. he either plays wide out and makes plays or does it on special teams. look at devin hester dude hasn't done shit since being moved to wide out. he can't have the best of both worlds, not possible. he already holds the all time record for most kick returns in NFL history. there is a reason that it was only 8. he could not honestly expect him to stay at the level forever.

but he doesn't suck. he is being asked to do wayyy to much for thiss team, but yeah he has lost his burst due to kick returning and playing wide out... they need to choose. i think wide out would be better. he takes a beating as a kick returner/ punter returner/ kickoff/ and punt team as a gunner. though i haven't seen him much as a gunner or kick off coverage

I can't believe you folks are saying this crap about Cribbs. The man can barely walk without limping right now, and you're bashing him for his lack of production? He shouldn't even be active.

That said...I don't believe he's lost a step or any other such nonsense. Didn't the NFL change the way teams can block during kickoffs and punts? Isn't there a rule that now prohibits "wedge" blocking that was so effective at opening a lane?

I don't think the rule change and less production by Cribbs as a result are a coincidence.

In any event, let's let him get back to 100 percent before we start saying he's lost a step. It's unfair to judge that right now.

Please read the thread before spouting off. Cribbs production in question refers to the entire year. He's lost a step, and been pretty terrible on returns the ENTIRE season.

My final word on the game...is a win..is a win...is a win...is a WIN.

Was it ugly, yes, I was there in person to witness it, the 1st drive of the game for Carolina and almost the entire second half was UGLY. But it is still a win, and honestly as a Browns fan, those have NOT been easy to come by as of recently. So I will TAKE IT! Especially being there to witness it in person. This makes me 1-0 this season when going to see the Browns play in person, and 3-0 over the past 3 years! (Buffalo snow bowl 2008, Season finale vs Jacksonville 2009, and this game vs Carolina) Anyone interested in sending a limo and tickets to my home for upcoming Baltimore and Pittsburgh games just PM me and I'll email directions. LOL

But in all honesty, I did not understand the second half game plan. Hillis ran for 74 yards and 3 TD's in the 1st half. Why would you not give him the rock to start the 2nd half, wear down the Carolina D, like we did to the Pats and the Saints, then stuff it down their throats when they are tired in the 4th quarter?

I remember when we DIDNT have a solid starting running back, and we would run on 1st down on a consistent basis for 1-2 yards. Now we have a back that averages 5 yards a pop we cant give him the rock on 1st and 2nd down and see where it lands us on 3rd? It really boggles the mind.

But like I said, a WIN is a WIN, and Ill take ugly W's the rest of the season!
