The D5 and D6 schools were Catholics that hardly are the equivalent of a public school D5 or D6.

we didnt play any d-6 teams ..it might say that in the scheduling for some reason .. they say that about St Joes but they are D-1 just like Massillon is ..Like wheeling Park is .. like Morgantown is ... like Brooke is .... Like McKeesport is ... Like the DC team we played is hmmm thats 7 ... Inkster is d-2 ..Ursulin d-5 ..really d-1 though and Tonowanda which is D-4

I dont know why your laughing... We are all biased on this topic including you ,but atleast that is a reputable source. It is a newspaper article that has to be edited and proof read and it is a larg city newspaper . I am excited to some degree . It validates my several points I have given . its nice to hear an outside source have the same opinion as me . so yes its a good thing .. Changes need to be taken .

Bob Dyer is and always has been a biased doosh...he is in fact the polar opposite of a reputable source. Why anyone would bother to read his tripe I have no idea.

An article based on opinion is a reputable source? Ummm, no. And you're wrong again. I'm not biased on the topic. Do I think a change needs to be made? Nope, sure don't. Can I see why some would think a change needs to be made? Yes, sure can. Fact of the matter is, I like it the way it is, but I don't give a rats ass what they do either way. It doesn't affect my alma mater whatsoever.

The public school I suppory will benefit from the changes. I have talked to several of the kids and they want to beat the best teams and don't want a watered down system.

ummmhmmmmm sure Nobody wants a watered down tournament but alot of us dont want stacked all star teams that get kids from 4 or five counties its ludacris.... The ploy for you and your catholic school that you support is to guilt the public school fans by making half truths and falsehoods ...and if you indeed support a public school you need to reajust your thinking if you have that mental capability .. How many counties and how many states does your team represent, and how is that any different?

Listen braniac I support Sylvania Southview a public suburban school for the last time. The kids at Southview have beat private schools and feel as if the can beat any team that is put in front of them. Maybe it's the High School that they go to that gives them this non victim mind set we are 2-1 against private schools and when we played for the title in 2008 we blanked a private school to get there. So we will not change our mind set because we don't view ourselves as a poor little school district that needs help to make a run. Our boys will just strap up and play ball. Once again the small school titles will be won by the MAC hands down. You are just focusing on a few schools that have been powers for years that come from an area that has had some of the best football in Ohio for years. When you close 4 High Schools where are the kids going to go? Some parents are going to send their kids to Chaney and the new East while others have moved to Liberty, Poland, Canfield, Austintown, Boardman, Hubbard, and Girard. If you look at some of the names on the Ursuline or Mooney rosters of the kids that came from the inner city a lot of their parents were the star athletes at South, Rayen, East, Chaney, or North. You cannot tell me that the make up of the aformentioned teams has not changed due to the plight of the Youngstown Public Schools as well as the violence within the city. Do I think that a change needed to be made of course I do. But you and a few others are hoping that the private schools are pushed out of it all together would be watering the system down and our boys don't want it. How does Ursuline and Mooney get the best athletes in a large area? How are Poland, Fitch, Canfield, Boardman, Hubbard, and Campbell successful then? Mooney has been good always while Ursuline was decent but there was a huge shift when Rayen closed and now you have the Ursuline of today. How is that answer for ya?

This time the fight is being heralded by several superintendents. Changes will be made this summer.

We all are aware of the multiplier the change won't change anything drastically. Superintendents get to vote? D5 and D6 will be the most affected. D1-D4 will remain the same. But as I keep saying the bad schools will remain bad and the good schools will still be good. In some cases it will be pretty funny, I will love to see Toledo Rogers destroy D4.

As I said on the thread created over on the Serious Business forum...

There is one thing that Mooney, Ursuline, Alter, Steubenville, Coldwater, St. Henry, Versailles, Ironton, and a number of other schools around the state have in common: strong parental involvement. The private schools have this because the parents are shelling out big bucks (in addition to paying taxes to the public school system) to have their child(ren) attend the private school. The public schools I mentioned have it due to a number of reasons (like a strong sense of community, school pride, faith in the coach, general interest in their child's well-being).

The schools that do not have this parental involvement (most inner city schools, and various other schools around the state) will never see success on the field. It doesn't matter how many multipliers you put in, or how many groups you separate out. They just won't win.

You want more teams to have a chance at winning a state title? Have the coach, teachers, and faculty create an atmosphere that encourages parental support and discipline in and out of the school.

I'm floored by the number of people who want to punish schools who have the strong parental involvement and community support, and give a hand up to the schools that encourage families to simply not give a shit.

Hell, in Youngstown, the previous superintendent's plan to get the district out of academic emergency was to have the kids who don't show up and were going to fail the state board tests just not take them. Then they wouldn't count towards the city of Youngstown's average. You honestly think there is not a direct correlation to that type of attitude and the product that you see on the football field?!

It all comes down to parental involvement. If you have it, you're school is going to do well. If you don't, you will always be a bottom feeder in athletics.

I think this year we had a transfer from Harrison Central .. Dont know why or anything like that ... .. Its a falsehood that you guys spread on us ... all through the years atleast the last 10 or so I can think of 2 kids maybe that came from Weirton ... so what happens when the kids with strong parental involvement choose to leave their public school and attend private school? by your assessment this leaves the public school with less kids with parental involvement and little to no chance to succeed on the football field. so private schools are getting kids with parents that care either because the student chooses the school or the school chooses the kid, either way the public school is left out in the cold. i can understand why the student would pick the school, but i have a problem when the school picks the student and thus leaves the public school short of a quality kid and by your calculations pretty much no chance at success.

Lets not kid ourselves here ok 90% of the time if a kid transfers from a public to a private sports are an issue ... its raining again but it feels warm and looks yellow
