I don't really pay much attention to this type of thing, but can someone clarify for me.....I thought the deal with Title IX (or whatever) is that schools must offer the same number of sports for both boys/girls, men/women. I'm confused on the Field Hockey thing - is he allowed to play because there is no male field hockey team? Are there other opportunities/sports for a male to play (just not field hockey)? For example, if a school has a football team for boys and a volleyball team for girls as their only fall sports, would boys be allowed to play volleyball since the school didn't offer boys volleyball?

I believe no, because there are men's programs out there competing. For field hockey, no such men's league exists.
