When is something that they say is for our safety too much?

When they say it's too much. They know best.

I don't know the answer to this or when it will ever stop. Will it go further, like a poster above stated cavity searches? Gosh I hope not but heck it could the way things are going. I don't know, the world sucks that is for sure. Can't we all just get along terrorists? :)

I really don't care.

As long as I get from Point A to Point B safely, I'll do whatever I can to make sure it happens

They will just kick your ass out the airport and move on to the next search. Again I don't want anyone thinking I am for this, I am just saying it's their rules I have to play by them if I want to fly.
They should use dogs and nothing gets changed if you don't say "hey, this is ridiculous."

Yes you have to play by their rules but you don't have to do it with a smile on your face and you can certainly make it clear that you do not think it's appropriate or effective. Which it is neither.

I cannot wait for the lawsuits from parents over TSA agents inappropriately touching their children.

This isn't in the U.S., but they seem to be the same type of scanners that the TSA use. Everyone get ready to feel "safe". The new dangerous weapon of the terrorists everywhere are ....... pleats.

You know, I bet we'd get a lot more efficient and non invasive security a la Israel if our government employees in D.C. and their families had to be subjected to the same types of screening that the regular citizens get.

My sentiments exactly. I've done the full body screen. Its nothing, I don't understand why anyone has a problem with it.

Also with people being shy if they are seen naked, I don't get it but maybe it's because I grew up an athlete and spent alot of time in and out of lockerrooms (still do as I referee HS wrestling, I have been seen and seen it all) so that part doesn't bother me a bit either.

Well regular citizens don't have that luxery in $$ or govt funded private transport.

You wouldn't mind your teenage daughter's scan image being put on the internet?

What would the reaction be if you tried to go through airport security wearing a trenchcoat and a thong? Would they be pleased that you tried to speed up the process or try to bust you for being a perv? I personally don't care if they want to pat me down and cop a feel at the same time but I see the point about someone grabbing my kids junk or looking at a fuzzy image of my daughter's figure.

Government employees except the President should be treated exactly the same as us. That bitch Napolitano or whatever her name is has probably never gone through a security screening in an airport in her life.

Not arguing this at all, and I'm sure she hasn't. Is it fair no but that part of the equation is not going to change!

Look at the images. You can hardly tell if they are male or female, and there is no way to see any facial features.

This is from leaked images from a scanner at a courthouse that uses the less detailed resolution. Imagine your daughter's images being saved and leaked online, despite assurances from the government that absolutely no images are saved, in even higher and greater detail. This would still be okay with you? We've seen that the government does store these images and they are leaked online. As you can clearly see, without the face being blocked out everyone would know who this guy is. This is still not a privacy concern for you?

Everyone knew that they would be saved from the start, they even came out after initially denying it and said that they could be saved. That being said, I had no idea they saved a photo next to the scanner image. I still don't view it as a huge issue, but I can now see where people could have a problem with this.

What kind of scan does this use? Is it something that increases cancer risk because I'd be wary of that if I traveled a lot.

What is the argument for this when dogs are more effective?

If you don't view this as a huge issue than I can't imagine what you would view as a huge privacy issue.

Screw the dogs, all you need are properly trained people and questioning. Israel employs no scanners or dogs. I have absolutely no idea why we don't have some of their security people telling the TSA how to operate. Actually, I do. It's all about the money. Want to guess how many high level government people have their hands dipped into the scanner technology money pie?

Israel profiles people. Profiling is bad, right?
