OK I'm going to ask a dumb question to you! but to me I'm lost. Who is Nick Lyras? And who was he playing for before. And is he any good? I know its a dumb question but remember i don't get out very much from this area and you guys and my brother is the only info i receive.

I believe Nick was enrolled at Cardinal Mooney last year.

He has not played football in the past couple season's I believe so I think he is very inexperienced and is average at best right now. He has good size though for a high school football player and I am sure he can help the team out in some way that is if his parents allow him to return.

Can we not post things about the team unless we all know what its about. All it does is cause unneeded worrying. I have been racking my brain about this and there was no need to. and i don't even know what it was about. From every indication we should Run deep into the playoffs this year. As long as we get a good start in the doubles and the first few games. If we can get a win in week one and two. We should build on the confidence like last year. all indication showed that Campbell would be another 6-4 7-3 season last year cause of our shaky defense. Well look what happen first playoff win in over 20 years. I say bring them on and let the Devils sort Em out.!!!

The rumors soupcitysoldier is referring to are not related in any way to the possibility of good news coming soon. Those rumors were not posted on this forum.

No Dean i understand that. I didnt think so. I know Lets Go Personally since i was a little kid. And I know he would not post anything that he didn't feel would be a positive for the Devils. I am not tying to discredit anyone here. I'm just saying please don't post something that would otherwise make Campbell look like they might have something that could effect them in a negative way or cause the season to be iffy unless its proof positive. EX Jales decided to leave Campbell to play for Fitch. Cause i started to make phone calls to people that might have some inside news. But none had anything other then good news and positive things. Now i don't know what Lets_go_Devils is talking about at all. Cause the people i have talk to have said only thing they know is we might have a QB that will walk on from another school that could be as good as Lester was. But he has not played for a year or something like that. But anybody that goes out for Campbell is a positive. But I'm still waiting on what Let_go has to say about the good news. Cause he if anyone i know of is close to the team then my source's. Now its driving me nuts to find out. I know that Lets_go has news. And I'm patiently waiting for it. Its Excitement as we get closer to the season. Now like he said Could be some big news. But it don't mean it will come to happen. I have been told many things this year that gives me goose bumps about the team. And any good news is just icing on the cake.

This kind of stuff seems to happen every offseason. I say wait until August 1st when we'll see the team on the field. The only concrete information I have is that the numbers are up a little and the offseason went well.

Thats great news. Campbell should start to see what kinda help that having the 8th and 9th grade teams back in Campbell. I always thought that we was behind cause of that at the varsity level ...

The only thing i know of was the kid from Ursuline that played on the JV team for them might be coming. As far as eligibility I'm not sure. But i have been Following some of the Tweets from Ja"les and Patton. Both seem very hyped to play with each other this season. Patton said he in one Tweet that he cant wait till football starts so he can show everyone he can play football. And he said he will light up Campbell like his dad did. But nothing from Ja'les other then replying back to him saying we will both light up Soup. we doing state. Now i don't know if they mean state or not cause i cant understand there language lol. But who knows. I'm taking deans Advice and waiting till week one to see who is there. ]

But did anyone go to the Passing scrimmage and if so how did it go and who looked to be in the lead to start this season. I'm also going to Post a Campbell game soon on YouTube. A 86 Game i don't have many up of that team and they deserve to have a lot of them. I believe they where the very first Campbell team to Win a playoff game. And to beat Mooney at that.

everyones eligible except two 9th graders that werent big contributors...nick lyras is supposively transferring back to campbell but i wouldnt hold my breath with that.

The Lyras name brings back memories for me. Dr. Lou Lyras was a very good defensive back in the early 1970's for Campbell. I graduated with Gus Lyras, who was a fine athlete also, very quick.

I have already spoken to one of the seniors to be and I stated how important senior leadership is. He is a good kid. But he needs to find a couple of his teammates who will join him.

I do not see Ja'les as a Leader!!! Why cause he is I'm sorry to say a goof off. He don't have leadership skills like his brother did. The Kicker i hear is leading the way for the seniors. If so i hope he kicks the seniors into leadership role like he kicks the ball. But they need to go to every practise and make there marks.

Guess we will find out soon enough how it goes. Did anyone go to the passing Scrimmage? LOL anyone have any positives to say about the team other then the numbers are up a little from last year lol!!!

Honestly, I see cockiness from this group.
Not hard work, not determination, cockiness.
Just because you made it to the playoffs does NOT mean you're guarnteed a spot the next season.
Campbell is on a lot of teams "hitlist" including some new head coaches from a certain school.
Leadership is a must for success, and from what i see/hear, there is none.

The only thing I question is senior leadership. The offseason went well as I said in an earlier post. I am sure Struthers is looking for revenge in light of the thrashing it took from Campbell last season. Campbell had a good core of seniors last year who led quite well. Replacing those leaders is tough. I exchanged messages with the kicker about this and he now sounds as if he would like to be a follower instead of a leader. Leadership could be a problem unless Coach Sikora can find them in camp.

Dean i have all the confidence in Coach and especially in coach Zetts. I would not worry about the leadership just yet. Leader will develop when they are working there rears off in Doubles and seeing others goofing off. They will voice there opinions and rise up during the drills and such. Nobody likes players that have no direction. They will rise. I promise that. I can not seeing a breakdown being allowed by Coach. Trust me they will show up in Practise. Captains will be made for that reason. Coaches will watch and see who rises up and they will be the Captains.

I agree with you to a point but i have not seen or heard any of this from any of the players any Tweets that made it feel they where cocky. Also my friends that are Closer to the team then me said they have confidence they will bring this year from last year. They feel they can hang with anyone then so be it. I would love that kind of cockiness. I swear by my words I HAVE THIS FEELING they are going to do something Special this year. I don't know what but i feel it and I'm going to eat my words if I'm Wrong.

But Spread i hear you guys are having a scrimmage with The Big Red Machine Down here in Steubenville. If you are do you know the time and date. Ill try to attend and give you a heads up to what you can look to the year.
