What is your point? The same people are in office today that were there on 11/1. Funny how everything is still Bush's fault and 2 years isn't enough time to turn things around, but gas goes up after 4 days and what happened on 11/2 is to blame?

Prices have been inching up all week in anticipation of the Fed's decision to buy $600 Billion in Treasuries...Gold hit a record high too.


I am assuming NCF meant 'November 4th'...when the Fed formally took the action.
The election was on November 2....and did not have any effect.

$3 gas? Great! Who cares? How much of your overall budget does gas make up? We spend somewhere on the order of 1% of our budget on gas each month. I can't imagine gas prices make a huge difference for most people when it actually comes down to it.

There was a huge fire at a refinery the supplies much of the gas to our region. The prices you are referring to are months away from affecting your wallet

Yes every time our beloved government pumps money into the economy they drive the price of commodities up! Look at how cheap gas was two years ago before they started pumping the money to the banks. The banks took the money and re-capitalized themselves by running up the price of commodities.

To people that make less than 20-30K a year gas prices affect them dramatically. Say I make $400 a week and spend $40 a week on gas. That's ten percent of gross income, after taxes the percent goes up to about 13%.

To someone who makes 100K a year and spends $40 on gas is 2 Percent, so yes the more you make the less gas affects your budget. How many Americans make 100K a year compared 20K a year? Hence the saying the rich get richer and poor get poorer.

Yeah, fan_from_texas saying gas prices at $3/gallon shouldn't effect anyone's budget is completely out of touch with reality. My mom makes around $20,000/year, it is a big fucking deal when gas prices go up higher and higher. To say otherwise is foolish.

1% to someone making $20,000 a year is a lot bigger of a deal than it is to someone making much more. Yeah, it's the same percentage but usually people making a decent amount more have more of a buffer until they hit their "oh shit, I can't pay rent/mortgage/electric" point.
