This week was an amazing week in SEC football.
Unranked Georgia beats top 10 G.T.
Unranked South C. beats ranked Clemson
Unranked Auburn and #2 Alabama game was great
Tenn and UK went to OT
Ranked LSU beat unranked Ark in OT
And ranked Ole Miss got beat by unranked Miss St.

This conference has MORE depth than any conference every year, and you have to be well prepared every week. Even the non-con ranked teams get beat by the SEC unranked teams.

Its rivalry games dude. You throw the records and all that stuff out the window

Dude, Arkansas lost to LSU because they couldn't move the ball (twice) in OT and their kicker missed a fairly easy FG (also didn't help that the refs blew an LSU player NOT going out of bounds in regulation that would have cost LSU at least 10 more seconds)...how is that amazing football? Because the crowd was loud (and drunk)? If Ohio St. lost a game because their kicker missed that kick people would be bitching about how much the Big 10 sucks.

I disagree. The SEC has a lot of parity, but it's not as good as it has been the past 2 years. Today says more about how poor the ACC is. Their 2 conference title representatives get whipped by 2 mediocre SEC East teams.

I'm kind of feeling that way too. Georgia Tech has pretty much been dominated but still hs a chance to win the game

I'm hoping UGA holds on. Then we can move back to the TCU thread and further illustrate why the ACC's automatic BCS bid should be under review

This year the SEC has been down, and Ive stated that for awhile now. But, you still cant deny that they are the best conference to watch on tv. The past years it was every week there was great games, this year not as many.

How in the world did that GT receiver drop the ball?

It's still the best conference in the country. Whether it's the most exciting to watch, I'd say it is, but that's VERY subjective, so I'm not going to make that claim.

However, the ACC is just flat out bad. They are 2-9 in BCS games and are going to send a representative that is a TD underdog this season.

Why in the world did Georgia Tech take 4 straight shots down the field when they still had plenty of time to run the football?

The SEC is still number one, but mostly because EVERY conference is down this year. The SEC and Big 12 both took giant steps back towards the rest of the pack this season. I don't think there is any question that the Big 12 last year was better than the SEC is this year.

Bama and Florida are great at the top, but then it's a bunch of average teams after that, same as any other conference.

LSU is top 15-20, but after that I don't see another surefire top 25 team.

But yeah, the ACC is terrible and has been for awhile. It has depth, but unfortunately it's depth consists of about 8 teams that would finish in the middle of the pack of any other conference.

I'd rather watch Northwestern and Indiana than the crap that comes out of the SEC.

The one thing I will admit to is its the fastest and most physical league in the country....

A thread like this indicates there's a certain inferiority complex to SEC supporters, that this topic has to keep coming up. Maybe old Civil War scars, maybe losing that whole civil rights battle (the irony that the last conference/states to desegregate are now beating their chests because of their black athletes)...I dont' know.

I will say that it's kind of tough to justify stating that the ACC is comparable to the SEC after today's results.

ACC is pretty weak and has been since they went to a 12 team super league for that matter

That is interesting. I have a buddy that moved down to SEC country to take a school teaching job. He says the same thing. He says that people down there hate Big Ten country because of an inferiority complex. I don't get it.....they have dominated now for 5 or 6 years, but they still have that complex.

The Big Ten has an inferiority complex? LOL

honestly the only thing that the was proven this weekend was that the SEC is better than the ACC.....and we already knew that.

The SEC takes second this year. Top to bottom the Pac-10 is king of the hill.

SEC the best? This coming from an "unbias" SEC fan? Ya right!! SEC is what the big ten was in 2006...top two very good, the rest very mediocre. The Big Ten, as "bad" as it is, currently has 3 top 10 teams. The SEC has the big two, then the next is LSU at #15.
I agree with the above, top to bottom, Pac10 is the best conference, much more balance.

But when unranked teams in the Big 10 upset ranked teams in the Big 10 it's because the conference is weak. Double standards are great.

All this subjective talk about which conference is best is a bunch of hooey! SHOW ME THE NUMBERS! Which conferences had more draft picks the past number of years? Is there an imbalance in the number of starters in the NFL from a particular conference? Answer these questions and you will see if there is a difference in talent level among the conferences. My guess is there is not. All college football has great pagentry and rivalry. Some just gets more press coverage than others.

I'd like to see SEC teams play in 30 and 40 degree weather in November. Some of their game plans would change IMO. Football in general seems to be seeking 'sterile' environments. Part of the game should be dealing with the elements. If you want sterile, play arena football. (sorry about the digression)
