Two points here:

1) I'm not sure what sort of 'typical' Division VI team you're used to seeing. The D6 teams that I see on a regular basis like to have a nice balance between pass and run.

2) DSJ actually IS a run, run, run, and run Division VI team. Their QB attempted an average of just over eight passes per game in the regular season. He attempted 13 in the semi-final win over Marion Local, but that's because ML did a nice job of shutting down the DSJ running game.

My pick in this one: DSJ by 14+

There's a difference between liking to have the balance and actually having it produce.

I've been going to D6 post-season games for a long time and I've seen far too many match-ups where the ball never goes in the air.

hotrods- I'm not saying that the FC would beat the NOL in head to head matchups because I don't believe that would happen. Bu given the size of the schools and the competition they play, the FC is certainly better than the NOL this year. If you matched them up 1-8, the NOL would probably win 6 or 7 of the games. NSP, Crestview, Monroeville and WR cetainly are on equal terms if not as good as when you compare Divisions to the 4 best NOL teams.

1st FC (NSP) finished 2nd in Region and is playing for state title.
2nd FC (AC)- finished 4th in their region and lost 1st round of playoffs.
3rd FC (Mville)- finished 9th in region missing playoffs by 1 spot.
4th FC (WR) finished 17th in their region.

1st NOL (Galion)- finished 1st in region and lost 1st round of playoffs.
2nd NOL (TC)- finished 12th in region.
3rd NOL (Bellevue)- finished 14 th in region.
4th NOL (Shelby)- finished 18th in region.

Certainly when comparing by Division and Region against the competition they re suppose to play. The FC is a more competitive conference this year.

I belive you said Mville is not even close to gwetting back in the playoffs. That statement alone tells the readers on here that you have no clue what your talking about as they finished just 1 spot away from making the playoffs. In the future maybe you should think about what you say before you actually make yourself look even more silly.
You might want to get with reality. Norwalk St. Paul is the only strong team in the league:

Western Reserve was an average D5 school, Crestview and Monroeville were top 1/3 in their divisions in your links. The MAC is not part of reality, their worst teams are average teams to strong teams in other leagues and within their division.

To most people: Very Strong =/= able to win the MAC...
...a term of higher praise goes to teams that are capable to win the MAC.



I think hoops main point that the top 4 in the FC were fairly good this year, while the NOL was the horrible conference posters were looking for. If that earlier poster was looking for a weak league (this year) in that area, it was the NOL or to a slightly less extent the SBC.

just based off the ratings from the links:
St Paul (FC) 41.6 > Galion (NOL) 12.9 (10-1 but got handled by a team that got blown out 3 times and managed never to pull away even from weak opponents)
Crestiew (FC) 14.8> Tiffin (NOL) 13.2
Monroeville (FC) 6.1 > Bellevue (NOL) 3.6
Shelby (NOL) .9 > WR (FC) 0.0

Could easily go 3-1 for the FC with the top 4
Bottom 4 of the NOL would likely very easily win all 4.

D2: 1 team
D3: 4 teams
D4: 3 teams

The history doesn't matter, this is a new year and different players. it doesn't matter who eachother played earlier this year, both teams deserve to be where they are. Good luck St. Paul, go out and get the win.

The history does matter, just not to the kids. But if you don't remember being ahead 14-0 and having your defense get picked apart the rest of the game in '97, or having a fake punt work against you in '99, you are likely to have similar things work against you. St Paul needs to think another level up for this game, cause DSJ will, their schedule forces them to. SP will have to be a little creative to win this game, and they have the weapons to do it. And keep playing lights out run defense.

I think Norwalk will win this game. The senior class has been dedicated, confident and committed to winning a state title. I believe the weather will be nice enough so St. Paul should have no problems using their team speed. With that said, I think it comes down to special teams and I believe St. Paul will get a score off their return team and that will be the difference.

What I'm saying is the FC is not as good as some people think. If St Pauls and Ashland Crestview were not apart of this conference I think none of the other teams left would have still never made the playoffs. This year...... Ok, Mville WAS close but, they could not beat a playoff type team which IMO still leaves them weak. My bad on the WR, I must have missed that 1 playoff season in the last 40 years. Because of the weak FC Western will always have a hard time making the playoffs, not that it won't happen just a harder time doing it. Plus making the playoffs once every 25 years does not make them a great team, just a notch better than the 4 weaker ones. St Pauls is the only school keeping the FC on the map, AC and WR are just bad division 5 teams. The FC is boring to watch when teams are blowen away by 50 to 60 points week after week and year after year. You can knock on me all you want these are just my thoughts right wrong or indifferent.

No one is saying the FC is good. People are saying it is not terrible based on the success of the top 4 teams. You don't know much about football if your calling AC and WR bad Division 5 teams. If your a top 4 team in the FC you need to beat two of the other top 3 to get in and win your non conference games. AC is perenially a playoff team and WR is usually knocking on the door. You wouldn't know it though unless that door hit you in the As*. It's obvious based on your first post that you just say things without any fact to back them up, then you have to come back on here and admit your wrong. Well, it's happened again.

The only thing I'll agree with in your last post is it is boring watching a 50 point blowout, but that happens in most every conference each week.

Back to the topic at hand. NSP and DSJ

If you'd have asked me at the end of the regular season if this was the best team St Paul's has ever had, I would have put them behind '97 and '03 state finals teams. But after watching the 4 playoff games, I believe this is the best all round football team St Paul has had. Other teams may have had a better individual player here and there, but as a team, especially defensively, this team has really gotten better every single week.

From what I've heard, the weather looks like it will be turning colder... This usually benefits the more run oriented teams over the pass oriented teams, and also helps the bigger, more powerful teams over the smaller supposedly faster teams. Sorry NSP, even the weather is stacked against you.

I saw Delphos play Ada and I saw Wynford play Hopewell Louden. If NSP is better than Wynford (28-21) (a team that would have handled ADA) then look out DSJ they can play with you too. Because of the playoff experience and tough games in the MAC each weak, I'll pick DSJ but if DSJ plays like they have the last two weeks, NSP could easily win this game. DSJ 21 NSP 14.

37 degrees and sunny is the forecast for Saturday, fwiw on Monday.
SP is supposedly faster, I haven't seen DSJ play so I don't know. SP is definitely smaller than everyone they play, so I would expect that to continue this week. SP has two offensive linemen just over 200 pounds, maybe 210 or so.

To take Arnold's point further, the Flyers may be smaller than every team they come across, but in absolutely no way does that mean they are not as strong. You'd be hard-pressed to find a better off and in-season weight training program than the one St. Paul puts together.

Actually who you played does matter. When you have to compete at a high level week in and week out that helps prepare you.

I am not knocking them or saying it isn't tough in any way, but I am sure you couls say this about all of the top teams. I would guess that all the traditional powers have very tough programs and I can guarantee St. John's has a very tough one as well.

This year Ada (who was missing their main QB) took them to OT and then a team that went 5-5 in the regular season took them to overtime.

I for one am hoping DSJ wins easily. I don't think I can take anymore close games. The Coldwater, Ada, and Marion Local games were enough for me.

This will be my simplest, shortest and most decisive commentary of all the 2009 Championship games!!!!!!!!!!!! No matter what the circumstances that brought these two teams to this point of the season.......DELPHOS ST.JOHNS DOES NOT GET TO A CHAMPIONSHIP GAME THEY DON"T WIN, PERIOD, END OF COMMENTARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hahaha you obviously are an outsider... and you obviously havent seen st paul play, so if i were you id have a more solid background of not just one team but both, then make a decision... and not just say something stupid like that lol

That's not a fair statement. The starting QB played the majority of the game in three of ML's five losses. The backup did a creditable job and can't be blamed for ML's losses.
