Bu given the size of the schools and the competition they play, the FC is certainly better than the NOL this year. If you matched them up 1-8, the NOL would probably win 6 or 7 of the games. theres no doubt that sp will have to play lights out football saturday at 3 when they line up against dsj and im really liking their chances of being able to bring home a well deserved title this year. i honestly dont think theres a coach in the state of ohio that deserves a title more than john livengood because of all the effort he puts in year after year for this program. however, even though sp hasnt made many mistakes in a game (interceptions, fumbles) like they did right off the bat last night and still win 52-7.. they WILL NOT be able to do that and win this game against dsj, they will take those mistakes and capitalize off them. i believe no one can completely shut down sp's offense, possibly the running game becuase a few teams have been successful in doing so but then your leaving the game in schweitermans hands where he can run people over or throw a perfect deap ball.. he makes quick wise decisions. sp's defense is fast and smart and you'll see 11 red helmets flocking to the ball very quickly. will they have their hands full? no doubt, but they have the team to beat dsj this year. should be a hell of a game!! The FC is not a tough conference for St Paul. If there is one big edge DSJ has in this game it is this: they have been forced to win 6 or 7 very tough games this year, 3 of them I believe in OT. This gives you situations where you are -forced- to find a way to win when your opponent is capable of stopping your strength. IMO SP needs to be ready to do some unexpected things this week, cause they will need to. The play they used against Crestview comes to mind. SP has a speed edge and I think they are capable of winning this game, but it's gonna take some creativity. So use the whole field and every athlete in the pass attack, including the running backs and tight ends, cause I don't see SP running on these guys. I believe SP will have to establish the pass to be able to run on their own terms, kind of the opposite of the way it usually happens. Like a 75% pass 25% run mix.

I'm going to have to disagree with all you MAC posters saying it is the best conference. I mean Toledo, Ball State, and Eastern Michigan were pitiful this year!

Can someone give me some Info on DSJ as far as key players, strengths and weaknesses, stats, tendencies. Just enlighten me.

The Flyers have nothing to lose in this game. They are a decided underdog in most people's opinion and rightfully so. With that being said, I believe they will come out loose and unpressured. Going for for their 2nd straight title, IMO puts all the pressure on the Bluejays. If SP can minimize their mistakes and use their speed and quickness to their advantage, they have a chance. They cannot afford to let DSJ control the line of scrimmage and dictate the pace of the game. I have mentioned before that in this posters 35+ years of watching HS football, I have not witnessed a small school squad with the total team speed of SP. Seeing how the Bluejays choose to defend against the Flyer's speed will be one of the games keys. Good luck to both squads next Saturday.

No one is saying that the FC is a strong league or even average for that matter. As was mentioned, the 4 bottom teams for the most part have always been lousy but the 4 top teams consistenly battle for a playoff spot. That is true and can be proven by just looking at the regional rankings over the last 10 years.

Take any conference and you are going to have 3-4 bad teams in it and 3-4 good teams. Certainly their are exceptions and the MAC would be one of them. But for the most part what I said is true of most conferences.

Don't really know much about NSP. But I honestly think DSJ is not playing their best ball right now.

This was a team returning almost everyone from last years state championship team that pretty much rolled through the playoffs last year.
This year Ada (who was missing their main QB) took them to OT and then a team that went 5-5 in the regular season took them to overtime.

I know all the MAC faithfull will say "That's just how good the MAC is." when they talk about ML. Actually it's more about ML peaking at the perfect time of year.

DSJ is very beatable, wether NSP can do it will remain to be seen.

I think it's absolutely comical that some of your gentlemen's analysis is based on the 1997 and 1999 games. Keep in mind the last time these two teams met this year's seniors were 8 years old. Can 7-8 year olds pitch tents?

This is, in my judgment St. Paul's best shot at knocking off St. John's. And as far as Eric's interceptions, they have not come as a by-product of defensive pressure. Many have come on tipped passes. The Blue Jays cannot penetrate the Flyer backfield and expect that to be a cure-all because more times than not he is just going to run away from them.

It should be a fun match-up for the fans as these teams do not play like your typical run, run, run, and run division VI teams.

DSJ has been appointed the annointed ones all season. Perhaps for good reason. However, the last two overtime wins by DSJ prove they are mortals. NSP has a lot of weapons. It will be interesting to see how we match up. NSP is peaking at the right time. Minimize the mistakes and it could be history in the making.

Your last sentence strikes me.You're right! SP can not let this become a mental game. They shouldn't be intimidated, They can hang with any and every D6 team in ohio whether they choose to play their game or not is up to them! GO FLYERS!
