Could be as early as tomorrow according to the same guy that said Billick was being looked at as a serious option for the job.

How much is his buyout from Oklahoma?

I guess this mean Charlie is officially gone. Even though most of America only knew that.

We already knew that, but you would have at least hoped they waited until the game was over tonight before this got out; guess you can't keep anything quiet now a days

So, if Stoops leaves, what happens to Oklahoma?

Also, what if Bob Stoops fails at ND? Will it be his fault or the programs? Serious question by the way!

I think Oklahoma would try to promote Bret Venables within to take over if Stoops doesn't take him to Notre Dame

I think Bret "Willem Dafoe" will become the head coach at OU. Stoops to Notre Dame. . . where does Weis go? Back to the NFL?

Looks for Weis to land in Kansas City, or back in NE.

who knows where Weis goes at the point; he'll probably have many options at that point. I like Venables to step up and take over Oklahoma

Weis is destined to be an OC in the NFL.

He is just not that good as a head coach.

sometimes that happens; the best coordinators aren't always the best head coaches and vice versa

This is what I thought would happen a long time ago. Will it improve the Irish? Maybe. Maybe not. I think Notre Dame's problems run a lot deeper than the name on the coaches office door. I'm afraid that it may be that Notre Dame's time as a king pin of college football is over. They need kids that can play like Florida who have academic qualifications like Harvard. They need the kids who are spoiled by the good weather locations that are all over the place these days. You are recruiting against palm trees, warm temperatures, beautiful girls on the beaches etc. There are always going to be those that will live and die for the right to walk past the "Golden Dome" everyday on the way to class. Others won't. You can import all the sand you want, Notre Dame just isn't attractive to the recruits of this era. It would help if Notre Dame football was better, but the fact is it isn't. I think it's going to take more time than most fans are willing to put up with. Whoever comes in has to understand that and know that whoever the next coach is, the pressure will be beyond belief. Reality will not be factored in by Notre Dame fans that think it can be solved with one hot shot coach. I'm not a Notre Dame fan, but it is kind of sad the way that Notre Dame football has gone recently. (OK, it's been considerably longer than just recently!)

Is Notre Dame lowering their admission standards? Stoops is used to a slightly more friendly one at Oklahoma.

Slightly!? lol No doubt ND admissions is tough. But don't kid yourself, for the football team, they lighten it up just as everyone else around the country does.

I don't see them offering the job to Sumlin; if Stoops bolts Venables will be offered the job if he doesn't follow Stoops.

Notre Dame has a lot more to compete with nowadays than they ever did with Lou Holtz at the helm

Not sure I would be smilling just yet. Nothing is signed sealed or delivered at this point. And if you don't think Stoops isn't walking in with some demands...your kidding yourself. He isn't going to walk away from Oklahoma without getting everything he wants.
