I think your Most Improved Player will be coming from Cleveland in JJ Hickson if he continues to play the way he has this year.

Darren Collison has a great chance. Going from a back-up role with CP3 to starting PG of the Pacers.

Darko is having a good night tonight. I'm sure the TWolves are pleased with the return on investment he is giving them.

HOWEVER....he is only 23 and looks to be turning the corner, so he can eliminate the bust talk and make himself worthy of the lofty expectations and pick. But thus far...how has he not been an underachiever?

He is a PG. Few PGs score 20+ PPG, so it is kind of unrealistic to expect Conley to be a scorer. Each year his PPG have gone up though. Last year he averaged 12 with 5 assists and thus far he is getting 15 ppg. Definitely not Hall of Fame numbers but definitely not very "bust-like." Furthermore he isn't underachieving because he is doing what myself and many others thought he'd do: scoring 10-15 ppg, getting some assists, and being a pretty good leader at the point. You don't watch the NBA/NCAA if you expected much more than what he is currently doing

Boston beats Detroit 109 - 86 ..... That's not really relevant to most people on this site lol .....

But Rajon Rondo's line --- 9 points, 3 Rebounds, 4 Steals and 17 Assists, that now makes 67 Assists through the first 4 games which breaks John Stockton & Magic Johnson's number of 65

When you draft a poing guard with a top 5 pick in the draft you expect him to be an impact player, team leader and a star. Not a solid role player IMO. Hes not terrible, but given where he was drafted, I think the Grizz expected him to do more than he is

Tell that to the team who drafted him 4th. They didnt draft him for 5 apg and to be a back-up. I said underacheiving to this point, but he is still young and this year, thus far, he is putting up numbers which would lead you to believe he is becoming worthy of a top 4 spot.

NO ONE expected D. Heyward-Bey to be good, and ridiculed the Raiders. But he is still a bust because of where he was taken.

I dont expect Conley to light the world on fire scoring. But I expect him to get about 14 a game and close to double digit assists a game.

For comparisons sake of recent PGs taken very early.
Tyreke Evans (better)
Derek Rose (better)
Brandon Jennings (better)
Steph Curry (better)
Kyle Lowry (not better per se, but won the starting nob over him when they were on the Grizz)

Again, Conley can prove to be worthy, but thus far, he has vastly underachieved for the 4th overall pick in the draft.

When were Conley and Randy Foye on the TWolves together?
The Grizzlies don't seem to be too disappointed with Conley, considering that extension they just gave him. Also, Conley has looked really good this year so far, maybe this is the year he really breaks through.

My fault, I meant Kyle Lowry and Grizzles.

Stupid Nova guards are always mixing me up!

But it does make the point stand even more. Lowry was taken 26th (I think) and beat him out.

Look at who was drafted after him there chief. The Grizzlies picked him because there wasn't much else out there. Yeah those other PGs are better than Conley, but the only problem is... they couldn't draft any of those guys in the Conley draft. (Evans, Rose, Jennings, etc)

Look who was taken after him Jeff Green (career 14 ppg good player), Yi (crap), Corey Brewer (crap), Joakim Noah (should have been taken higher), and then after that guys who aren't either much better than Conley or are worse than Conley. Green and Noah both are better players than Conley right now, but it looks like Conley would still be a top 10 pick if you were to do a redraft. Let's not pretend that the NBA Draft is full of great young talent. It is mostly a crap shoot after the top 10 or so

None of that matters. He was taken 4th. His stats dont warrant it.

BTW, in that draft alone, 3 PGs stick out as better. Fernandez, Brooks, and Stuckey

I like Brooks more than Conley, but Stuckey is a stretch and Fernandez is a huge stretch. I think the only guys who should have been taken before Conley if you do a redraft are Durant, Horford, Noah, Green, and Brooks. After that I think you can make a case for Conley over any of the rest of them.

Al thorton, Thadeus young, Joakim Noah, Jeff Green, Aaron Brooks, Aaron Affalo(stretch, mostly bc hes a knockdown 3pt shooter and a good defender), Carl Landry, Glen Davis, Rodney Stuckey, Marc Gasol

Theres 10 players you could argue that are better, that were picked after Conley.

What did you want the Grizz to do? Forfeit the pick because there wasn't somebody there that was worthy of being a #4 pick?

I'm not sure I can take your opinion seriously as you thought Conley played for the T'wolves at some point.

Aaron Brooks I will give you. Stuckey has a career average of 13 ppg so I would be inclined to call that a wash... but Fernandez? Seriously hahahaha

Laley has some hatred towards Conley... it probably stems from him going to Ohio State and not Indiana.

Seriously though, it's not like he was a #1 pick gone complete bust (Oden). He was a #4 and has been alright. He's still in the league and will probably stick around for awhile. The NBA draft is a crap shoot... just like any other draft.

I look at Stuckey this way: His ppg shot up to 16 last year because the Pistons were so bad that someone had to score their points. He did at a .405% clip and he only averaged 4.8 assists (which may have had something to do with being surrounded by bad teammates, just like his low fg%) I'm not sure I'd be so quick to call him a better pg than Conley.

Give me all the bolded before Conley, everybody else I'd take after him. Thornton and Thaddeus Young are both so fraudulent it's not even funny. Neither of those guys will ever start/be a top 2 player for a good team. They both have over inflated stats because their teams always suck. Somebody has to score those points. Guys like Big Baby are a dime a dozen.

I didn't even notice Marc Gasol was picked in that draft when I was looking at it. Yeah, give me him before Conley too. Same with Landry. The rest of them I think I'd take Conley over.

I am definitely not a Conley/OSU basketball fanboy. I follow the Basketball Buckeyes but I generally do not live and die with them. I am pretty unbiased IMO. Never said Conley was the next Magic Johnson, just said that it is moronic to call him a bust and a stretch to say he is underachieving considering he never was really a scorer at OSU.
