My point is, the Sixers didn't need to take another wing.

Whether Favors and Turner have equal value in 2 years (I don't believe they will anyway), I'd rather have the post player.

BTW, Favors is not 19 years and 5 months old while Evan Turner is 22. As far as potential goes, Favors has more. As for Favors being undersized, maybe he is physique-wise, but he's as tall and long as Dwight Howard and I'd say he's a pretty good center...
Looks like your namesake might be headed to Memphis with Andy Rautins in a deal for Mayo. Granted its from a Knicks blog, I read it on hoopsworld.com so there is has to be some sort of merit to the rumor.

Cavs fall 110-95. Zanesville native Kevin Martin lit up the Cavs for 40. The Rockets hit 12 3's. Jamison had 24 points and Hickson is pissed at Byron Scott. What a fun season this continues to be.

Cavs are taking their talents to South Beach on Wednesday.

Is this happens, it will make the Knicks a top 4-5 team in the East and a threat to make the East Finals IMO.

Just heard Rob Parker(occasionally appears on ESPN's First Take/1st and 10) on Detroit's NBC say that the Knicks are also looking at Tayshaun Prince but a deal probably wont go down until the Pistons are sold. They wany him for his play and the fact that he has an expiring contract.

My guess is that if they got Carmelo, Gallinari would be gone.

In-Mayo/Prince/Anthony
Out-Gallinari,Azubuike,Rautins, Curry,Randolph possibly Mozgov

Would be nice to see Mayo and Walker teaming again.

Looks like the only team that Melo will sign an extension with is the Knicks......Nuggets are in a bad position.

I think the owners are going to try to put an end to this nonsense. Theres going to be a lockout, I just dont see any way around it.

That gives all the power to the Knicks. They don't have to give Denver what they want, as they can just wait until after the season and sign him. If I were the Knicks there is no way I part with Gallinari.

Amare continues to impress! And to think that the Cavs didn't want to include Hickson in a deal for him last year. Amare has proven himself as a top player in the NBA and Hickson has proven to be an average player. (and I'm not trolling)

I dunno how they could put an end to it though, cant force players to sign with teams of the owners choosing

So you want NBA contracts to include non-compete clauses?

I don't think O.J. Mayo comes close to making the Knicks a threat in the east. He's nothing more than an average player, and he's one of the worst defenders in the NBA.

His production has decreased every year since his rookie year, in which he showed a lot of potential. At this point, yes, I would say he's average. But he has all the tools you look for and maybe a change in scenery brings out his potential.

Lol put an end to what? If melo doesn't want to resign, why should the owners have a say in it?

I just dont like the path that the NBA is headed.

Took this post from RCF. Basically sums up my thoughts

The players aren't going to have much of a say in it. The owners are the ones signing the paychecks and I'm pretty sure every one of them that isn't located in LA/New York/Miami/Chicago etc. is going to come into the CBA meetings fuming mad. It's pretty clear that being able to offer a player an extra year and more money isn't enough to keep small market teams in the game so it'll have to change, whether it's to a franchise tag system, stricter cap or whatever.

Regardless, 80% of the owners are getting the royal shaft and a few big name players are running the league. Those owners simply will not let it continue and if locking the league out is the only way to avoid this big city monopoly path to a shitty, top-heavy league, then so be it.

You cant make players sign where they dont want to. If they sign for less money and team up with eachother, theres little to nothing Owners can do about it

Yeah I mean look at English premiere league soccer, the top players all play together....it's not like this is unheard of in sports. You can't force someone to play for a team he doesn't want to when he's earned the rights to pick whichever team he desires (and I'm a cavs fan, so I COULD feel the exact opposite haha).

Not directly, but they could go to a hard cap and eliminate mid-level exceptions and bullshit like that. It would make it financially impossible for more than 2 stars to go to the same team, unless they all literally took several million less per year, which isn't going to happen.

A good portion of these stars' income comes from sources other than their salary. I think you could see someone like Carmelo taking several million less per year in their salary, in order to play in ny. Were at a point where these guys are starting to REALLY care about championships, and not so much their salary.

Plus, in NYC he is going to more than make-up for missing out on a max deal by advertising etc from any city other than maybe LA or Chicago.
