I'll believe it when it actually starts happening.

LeBron and Bosh each took an average of $2.5 mil less per year than the max to go to Miami, and the big 3 alone still make up over $43 million to a salary cap of $58 million. If you have to pay 12 other players in addition to them with a hard cap, the only way to do it would be to literally have 8-10 minimum salary guys.

I could see a LeBron/Wade or Amare/Melo type pairing, but you wouldn't be getting the 3rd players in there, and you still wouldn't have much depth investing half of your teams salary allotment into 2 players.

I just don't see guys taking $5-6 million less PER YEAR. $30 mil per contract is a huge deal.

It wouldn't fix the system by any means, but it would definitely tip things a little bit more into the owners favor.

Miami wins again tonight, streak at 9.
Dallas is currently losing to the Bucks, streak is probably going to stop at 12.
Bulls have quietly won 6 in a row.
Knicks sitting at 8 in a row.
And the C's are sitting pretty with 10 in a row.

Meanwhile on the other end of the spectrum...

Cavs have lost 8 in a row.
Nets have lost 7 in a row.
Warriors have lost 6 in a row.

And now they will slide back to the middle of the pack, where they belong.

Carmelo will be a Knick, it's just a question of whether it's this year at the deadline or next year during free agency. And that makes the Knicks a very very good team.

I've been waiting a long time for this. The last decade has been miserable. They're already doing better than I thought they would this year.

Maybe there will be a Knicks-Heat rivalry again after all.......

P.S. FUCK YOU, ZEKE!!!

Knicks have had the second easiest schedule so far this season. I'm not buying in just yet.

Chris Paul will be joining him shortly.

Only way this doesnt happen is if the owners come down with a hard cap.

At this point do the Knicks even need Chris Paul? I was talking about this with a friend last night. Raymond Felton has been proving to be a very good fit in the D'Antoni offense. Hes someone who doesn't need to be "the man" and is a solid starter.

Certainly looks that way. And talk about three pieces that really should be able to work together, Paul, Carmelo and Amare are made for each other.

Absolutely. Chris Paul is a top player in the NBA, if they can get him it's a no brainer.

The question was do they need Paul.

And my answer is no, they don't. Felton can sufficiently run the point for them in D'antoni's offense.

Would Paul be a great fit and make them even better? Absolutely, and if they can get him they should.

You are saying two different things.

You say that Paul would make them better, but that they don't need him?

If they have the opportunity to get him, they do it. It's a no brainer. With him they are a potential championship team, but they are not that with Felton.

And for as good as Felton is looking in that offense, just imagine how good Paul would look.

Dude can you comprehend what I'm saying or do I need to make it even simpler.

The question was do the Knicks N E E D Paul.

Let's break this down:

1. To need Paul the Knicks would need to have terrible PG play or inconsistency at the position.

2. The Knicks don't fit the necessary condition put forth in point 1, therefore...

They don't NEED Paul.

So no, what I said wasn't two different things. The answer to the question is once again, they don't need Paul. I then went on to say that Paul would make them better, but that doesn't mean they can't win without him.

Yeah I don't think that they need Paul either. Obviously Paul is more talented than Felton, but more talent isn't always the answer. Felton and Amare obviously mesh very well, and Melo is on the way. I think that team can definitely contend for a championship next year if they add the right pieces around them. If they could get Paul for cheap, then obviously you do it, but if you can get Felton for significantly cheaper and give you more flexibility in signing other players, I think you have to give it a chance.

LOL the Nets get 2 first rounders and Sasha and all they give up is Terrence Williams? That makes no sense at all, unless Smiths contract comes off the books after this year or something

Add me to the group of people who think that the Knicks would be just fine without Paul. Felton has been playing outstanding thus far and seems to mesh quite well with the other pieces. He also seems to be somebody who knows his "role", he doesn't need to be showered with attention and endorsements.

If they can get Amare and Melo on the same team, they'll be just fine. If I were the Knicks I would be more worried about filling the roster with complementary pieces. They need a big guy who is a good rebounded and an enforcer to come off the bench. They then can alternate Gallinari, Amare, and the added big guy. Gallinari and Amare for offense, and Amare and Big guy for defense.

Landry Fields is a good find too. I like him a lot. The Knicks are set up pretty nicely to compete over the next few years.

So he'll get the minutes Caracter is getting now? Idk if its really that big of an upgrade, besides another veterans presence maybe? but with that locker room idk if they really need that that much anyways. They basically made a salary dump and gave away a first round pick is all it looksl ike to me really. Unless smith gets some meaningful minutes
