Some points from the game:

* The Cavs new offense is beautiful. Ball movement, backdoor cuts, constant screening and pick and rolls.

* Byron Scott made more adjustments during his first game than Mike Brown made in his career.

* The Cavs HAVE talent, like I said in an earlier thread. They, imo, will win 40+ games. Not only that, but they still have very nice depth.

* While Scott implemented a much improved offense, the defense is still rock solid. Despite being out sized for the most part in the paint, the Cavs still held the C's to a lot of 1 and dones.

* JJ Hickson is turning into the player most of us thought he would turn into. His jumper is much improved, his decision making towards the basket is much improved and he actually looked like the team leader throughout the game during the team huddles. Loved seeing that.

* This is still a close knit group. They're still having fun out there, but most importantly, they play hard for 48 minutes. It's nice to see towards the end of the game that nobody was really breathing hard. Nobody conditions a team better than Byron Scott.

Talk about free money!!. I loaded up! I figure they'll be paying me about 2 weeks after st. Patrick's day.

Wouldnt be so sure. They looked good tonight, but that doesnt mean theyll keep it up the rest of the year

I like the Celtics, but I LOVED the nonLeBrons beating Boston on opening night in Cleveland after Boston beat Miami last night.

"I got lots of them," Rivers said, laughing. "I thought it was pretty funny."

Afterward, Rivers felt even more love.

"We're the most popular team in Cleveland right now, beating Miami and losing to the Cavs," said Rivers, who praised the Cavs. "That's what the Cleveland fans want to see. This is blue-collar town. This team will fit them very well."

Obviously not hard enough seeing as you decided to make a hypocritical ignorant statement lol. You need to study a bit harder, that college education is not doing you any good at the moment.

Just got home from the game. I'm by no means the biggest or best NBA fan, but I do love Cleveland sports. The atmosphere was GREAT, further proving that Cleveland fans are the best. You would've thought that 1.) Queen Pippen had never left and 2.) It was a playoff game. JJ Hickson is going to be a beast, if they consider moving him in some sort of deal this year the new GM should be fired. The team plays, just like that as a TEAM. I really think a lot of these guys will benefit from the Queen moving on. With that said, they do have some stuff to work on, turnovers, help defense(AV got burnt a few times rotating over).

Let's pump the brakes a bit on this one. Mike Brown was a pretty coach for this franchise. He got them to the finals and actually managed Lebron's ego pretty well. Scott has won 1 game. It was impressive, but it was one win nonetheless. Mike Brown had plenty of those while he was in town

Disagree. Mike Brown rode LeBron's coattails in the regular season and failed hard in the playoffs when coaching actually matters. After that first terrible collapse to the Celtics a few years ago his time should have been up. The past few years were painful each and every time.

Mike Brown was an average at best coach and had a monster of a player that carried him through the regular season and over the overmatched teams in the playoffs.

While I agree it's still a little early to judge, I could ask what Brown's record was without lebron? I think he was bailed out by his superstar most of the time and with this roster I can't imagine what his offense would look like.

Regardless, that doesn't disprove hoops point that Scott, in one game, made more GOOD in game adjustments than Brown made in his entire career. I have to think this could possibly be true.

And I do agree that Mike Brown was a great defensive coach, but defensive adjustments don't win you championships, offensive ones do.

^^^ That doesn't mean I'm discrediting the importance of defense at all.

The Cavs have the right guy in Scott. I always liked him, but he was really impressive last night. They ran good sets, had great movement and really played well as a unit.

Really impressed with the Cavs last night. Maybe I'll be eating crow, because they really surprised me. Not because they won, because I thought they had a chance, but because of how they played. They won't be able to go out and beat Boston and the better teams every night, but if they looked like a capable team of making the playoffs.

Obviously it's just one game, and they had all kinds of motivation to play well last night, they looked good.

I also like Ryan Hollins' game. He's not a great player by any means, but I think he will get the chance to show what he's capable of and is a really nice addition.

Oh man was he great to watch up close. He's basically utilized as a much more athletic Z (without the jumper yet), someone who can guard the other teams big, and he had a lot of huge tipouts to save possessions.

What truly impressed me the most was what Byron Scott said after the game, (not verbatim) "Our goal is to make sure there's not a letdown friday at toronto"

To me, that screams that he GETS IT, and really will make good on his pregame introduction promise to make sure this teams trys its hardest every damn night.

Exciting time to be a Cavs fan, the atmosphere in the Q in the 4th quarter was top 4 in my lifetime and I've been to some big games.

"Byron Scott made more adjustments during his first game than Mike Brown made in his career."

Considering Lebron never paid attention to anything Brown said or wanted done and Lebron more often than not ran his OWN offense, that statement is a little unfair to Mike Brown.

By "gets it" I think he needs to realize two things, one that he doesn't have the horses to not go out and have a let down and two being a blue collar venue, the fans won't be happy otherwise. The only way the Cavs can have any semblance of credibility is to scrap like hell every night. I do think he gets it. Tough to do for 82 games though granted. We'll see.

The Cavs can't play with the same intensity for 82 games that they played with last night. They played last night like it was game 7 of the NBA finals, and although you want every game to be treated that way, it's just not realistic.

But there is not doubting that the Cavs got the right coach. I'm really impressed with Scott and even if the Cavs miss out on the playoffs, he's the right guy going forward.
