Anyone have any good wisdom teeth removal stories?

Had my wisdom teeth out last night (4). Really went pretty well considering I am already back at work this morning. I think the worst part was the needles for the novacain (sp). Those things killed...don't think they used enough local anesthetic (gel) before hand. Pretty sure my whole face was numb. Once they got started there wasn't much pain, just a little on two of the teeth and they added additional novacain and I was fine. However, the noise that they made when they yanked them was NASTY...great bone crunching noise.

When they were done, they sat me up and filled my mouth with gauze...almost passed out at this point. Don't know what happened but got super naucious, dizzy, light headed and HOT! They had to cool me off with the air gun, an ice pack and tilt me really far back. Felt like I was on the brink of fainting and puking all over myself. Went away in like 10 minutes or so.

The novacain then took almost 5 hours to wear off all the way. But no real pain...just lots of blood and gagging on gauze...YUCK. Overall I think the gauze is the most annoying part...LoL

Got some Vicadin in me and I am GOOD!

Got mine cut out in high school. Definitely took the gas and was out during the procedure. Got them out on a Thursday. My dad forgot to give me my "de-swelling" pills. I was swollen for probably two weeks haha. I entered a three point contest the Saturday after and got 2nd place and then I went to the chili bowl cookoff...That probably wasn't the greatest idea I've ever had.

I remember waking up midway through the procedure and them yelling to me "Keep your head still! Keep your head still!"

It really isn't a big deal. It takes a day or two to recover but you should be fine after that. Now the tonsillectomy I had at age 22.....THAT was a different story...

I've never had wisdom teeth, so I'm lucky I didn't have to go through the experience of having them pulled..

I agree with the tonsillectomy..had mine done when I was 20 or so...TERRIBLE experience...for one I was still sick when they took them out, and it only made me that much more sick. I was out of commission for almost a week. And that feeling when you wake up from being knocked out is NASTY!

I still have mine. If I ever decide to get braces I will need to have them pulled. If I do it will not be for a long time.

I was knocked out when i had my wisdom teeth pulled, but I do remember hearing a big crunch. (That's all I remember about it.) Both sides of my face swelled up so I looked like a chipmunk, but I just took the drugs they gave me and it wasn't really all that bad. I don't understand why people are so scared of having their wisdom teeth removed.

I am not trying to say that mine hurt...because it didn't...I was surprised how little it hurt considering what a big deal people make out of it.

However, I do feel like I over-did-it yesterday because I have a lot more swelling and my jaw isn't feeling so hot.

Got all 4 removed about 8 years ago. When i came to I told the doctor how sweet it was that he was giving me some vicodin then announced to everyone in the waiting area how fucked up I was.

Don't even remember the procedure. Was knocked out on Nox. Woke up and was flirting with the surgical assistant, luckily, it wasn't my aunt who was the other assistant. I ate pizza the next day and barely took the vicodin because it wasn't that bad. Remembered sleeping that whole day and drinking Sumburger milkshakes.

Mine hurt badly they were impacted. I smoked the next day and that didn't help either. The dissolvable stiches bothered the hell out of me too.

Anyone who complains about the pain from wisdom teeth surgery has never experienced real pain.

Thats ridiculous. You can complain because something is painful even if it isnt a bullet wound to the chest.

HAHAHA, that's pretty good! I'm almost certain that he would, however.

You just have to keep things in perspective. I just don't like people who complain about being in pain, after something like this. Yea it sucks, but it's nothing that should affect anyone's daily activities other than changing your diet slightly for a few days.

Well that is phrased a bit better.

However, I had to fly the next day. Airports dont really cater their food selections to those who have swollen faces!

My wisdom teeth hurt for a day, then it was ok. But the first day after I was in excruciating pain. They hurt more the second day than my broken arm did the second day.
