Bring on Stoops. Can't wait to buy my ND visor. Ha. Seriously tho, no reason we should have lost this game. Already counting the days until spring practice starts. I'm starting to get tired of this shit.

I'm with you. I can't ever remember being this unexcited on an ND game day. I'm more excited on the speculation of having a guy like Stoops possibly coming on board.

So at 6-6 where are the Irish going bowling? And will Weis coach the bowl game?

I've been reading it's a strong possibility ND will not be attending a bowl game. There isn't much to gain at this point, just hire a new coach and focus on next season.

Weis' offensive game plan was once again terrific. I know it's 99.99% certain Charlie Weis is toast, but can anyone tell me honestly that if they had a Defensive Coordinator that could hand them a Top 50 defense, they wouldn't be undefeated?

Weis did a lot of good things while at Notre Dame. Let us hope Swarbrick doesn't make a mistake in canning a terrific offensive staff and hiring a less than stellar coach.

I'm hoping athlete is right and Bob Stoops is our savior. Lord knows Notre Dame needs it. They honestly are not that far from being "back."

There is plenty to gain! It's an extra month of practice time, which equates to tremendous improvement. The defense in particular could use it.

I'm sure Stoops will want his own staff; can't see him retaining too many people off of the current staff; expect to see a lot of guys from Oklahoma follow him; that's been a pretty tight knit group for a lot of years

Ron Powlus should be the next head coach.

I'm sure you are joking about HC, but I would definitely like to see Powlus retained as a QB coach at least. Need to have someone with ties to ND that gets "it" on the staff.

That was supposed to be the selling point on Weis; he may not have played or coached there prior to this, but he was a Notre Dame guy and supposedly "got it"

Unfortunately not all hires end up a success or live up to the hype. It happens in all jobs, not just football.

As for Powlus, I could care less if the new staff chooses to keep him.

I highly doubt a new coach coming from outside the current program would lead ND team into a bowl game this year, and if Weis and the staff get canned, who is going to coach the bowl game?

IMO, IF Stoops is hired, he'll probably leave Oklahoma immediately and not coach the Sooner's bowl game and start focusing on ND recruiting, meeting with the team, etc. It will be interesting to see what transpires over the next few weeks.

they may can him with the stipulation of him coaching the bowl game then he's gone; would create a huge distraction if they hire Stoops while they're trying to prepare for that game IMO and while he's trying to coach a bowl game @ Oklahoma.... those 15 extra practices could sure help... and I'm sure Notre Dame isn't going to turn down the payout from somebody to come play. I think they'll play in a game

Oh, you were trying to take a shot at Ohio State and OSU's coach? There really is no reason for OSU fans to even respond to the FEW fans of ND and UM that try and take potshots at our program. You wish you were in our position
Justn responding the stupid ass remarks about Bob Stoops. Personally, I would NEVER want a comprimising coach like Tressel at ND.

A lot of variable still to play, but I highly doubt Weis will stick around and coach a bowl game if he knows he's gone, and I don't think Swarbrick will want him around running those extra practices.

I've gone back and read all of the pages I missed on this thread and I have to say, there are some STUPID ASS people on this forum!

Live it up haters, ND lost another close game, if that makes your day then may God pitty your clueless thought process!

So you don't want your program to win games?

Yes, we have lost 2 BCS NC games, and they weren't pretty. But we still win, and before this season's loss to Purdue, the only teams we lost to in the last few years were teams ranked higher than us, or in the top 10, unlike Florida who lost to Ole Miss, USC who lost to Oregon State, Washington, and Stanford in consecutive seasons, and some of these other top programs that lose games they shouldn't.

We did lose to Purdue. We didn't show up that day. No denying that.

But you guys lost to Michigan, Navy(yes I know we were a 2 point conversation away from being in some deep shit) and Connecticut....

Well... You lost to Navy, Michigan, and UConn.

In 2008, you got blown out by Michigan State, lost to Syracuse (LOL), and got shutout by BC.

Should I talk about 2007? I mean you did have an impressive 3 wins.

I also remember in 2006 when all 3 of your losses came by 20 points or more.

Should I continue or no?

And how many BCS bowl games have you lost in a row? What comes around goes around my friend!

We've lost 3 in a row. We're a defensive coordinator and a safety being a dumbass and trying to knock a guy out from beating Texas and we were plain outschemed in the other 2. We haven't lost as many in a row as Oklahoma, yet Stoops gets no heat for that. You've lost your last 2 BCS Games, and in the process given up 75 points and over 1100 yards of total offense between them

Coming from a fan of a team who has won just a single bowl game (against Hawaii last year) since 1994?

That's 1-9 since 1994. And your last big bowl game you won was in 1992 Sugar Bowl.

Keep them coming. I can go all day.
