I can't name five who are in a position where they'd want to leave and take another job right now... you're basically whittled down to 2 candidates: Brian Kelly(which again, I don't see happening) and Bob Stoops; I don't see Billick ever becoming part of the discussion

Notre Dame needs to hire a coach who actually cares about all parts of the game instead of just the offense.
I don't think Weis even tries to recruit top of the line defensive players. He is more interested in going out and recruiting the so-called next great quarterback and wide receiver. It doesn't matter if your team scored 30 points per game when it gives up 31.
The kicking game has also suffered under Weis. I don't understand how a school like Notre Dame can't recruit a good kicker, and punter.
The defense and kicking game has cost the Fighting Irish dearly during his tenure, but he doesn't seem to care to do anything about it.
Goodbye Charlie! Thanks for nothing.

Defenses haven't been exactly stellar at Notre Dame for quite a while now, even before Weis' tenure

He is an offensive coach and I doubt he would deny that. To say he doesn't even try to recruit "top of the line" defensive players/kickers, is just stupid. Teo #1 OLB, Stockton #3 DT, Turk #6 Kicker. All freshmen this year. There have been others in previous years, they have just not been as successful as everyone planned.

Why would Jim Tressel want to leave Ohio State? He has a great team returning next season and will be in position to win his 6 th consecutive Big 10 title and should also be in great position to go to the BCS title game.

Oh, you were trying to take a shot at Ohio State and OSU's coach? There really is no reason for OSU fans to even respond to the FEW fans of ND and UM that try and take potshots at our program. You wish you were in our position.

Why would ANYBODY leave OSU for ND?

ND fans would LOVE to have Jim Tressel. ND fans would LOVE to have consistent double digit win seasons and BCS bowl bids...

Or, they were just not developed..or put in a position to be successful.. which again goes back to coaching. Which I still am scratching my head about as Weis supposedly brought in all these top notch assistant coaches.

Wies Jr. has been calling in the defensive plays and wears that headset. Give him a shot.

So its pretty clear that the players at ND absolutely love Weis. So if they end up pulling this game out against Stanford in dramatic fashion, I feel bad cuz they probably won't be able to carry him off the field. :(

Sorry Charlie....I defended you for 5 years against the fat jokes.....I had to give in eventually!

Notre Dame leads Stanford 38-30 early in the 4th quarter. Golden Tate has 3 TD's thus far.

It would be nice to see Brian Smith take on the lead block with his inside shoulder instead of allowing the FB to get him hooded. It's a pretty basic football technique I learned in middle school...
