Hard hits are a part of football. Cheap shots to the head are not. Maybe if they took the facemasks off the helmets, idiots like Harrison would stop leading with their helmets all the time.

Ahh...yes. The Turkey Jones hit on Bradshaw that occasionally gets posted by Browns fans from time to time as one of the most glorious hits in the history of football. But Harrison's a thug/cheap shot artist. Logic.

I hope he continues to lead with his head. He will be suspended more than he plays.

Has anyone addressed the fact that both Harrison and Cribbs played at Kent State on the same team? Just curious.... As soon as he hammered Cribbs I though ... Oh no, from one Flash to another. Maybe Cribbs stole his gal, or made him look bad in practice or something... LOL.

But that's right....it has NOTHING to do with him playing for their rival!!!!

Like I said, some on here saturated their keyboard with their saliva while watching TJ Ward's college highlight hit reel. And some loved or "kinda liked" the shot he put on Shipley a few weeks back. How was/is Jack Tatum affectionately referred to by some OSU fans who are also Browns fans? "THE ASSASSIN" is glorified on here even though the previously mentioned Daryl Stingley was a real victim.

Not saying all, but some are so inconsistent it's not even funny. Well, maybe a little.

You gotta remember who you are dealing with. These are SOME of the same people who are convinced that Cleveland is a better city to play in than Miami.

I don't understand Browns fans who claim that people are only defending Harrison because they're Steelers fans.

I don't understand Steelers fans who claim that people are only bashing Harrison because they're Browns fans.

This argument is going on all over the country. Rules/punishments are being changed midseason in a major sports league. This is a huge deal that has nothing to do with the rivalry.

Referring to James Harrison as a "thug" for his play is what I'm talking about. In that case, there are thugs on every team. Be consistent and call your players out for it too then. That's all.

Glad someone mentioned the TJ Ward hit as I thought it was very comparable to what Harrison did, and (some of) the Browns fans reactions are quite different than when it was Ward giving the hit.

Personally speaking, I really don't see much wrong with the hits. His subsequent actions and comments are what makes him an idiot. Contemplating retirement? I still can't believe he actually said that. And Tomlin gave him the day off to think about it. SMH

All reasonable steeler fans I know feel the same way, too. Not surprising the fans on here feel differently, though.

I watched the entire presser and Tomlin had a disgusted look on his face when talking about this issue. Yeah, in a nut shell that's EXACTLY what he was insinuating in his comments. BTW, you're welcome!

These comments about Harrison always leading with his head are insane! If anything, the guy is one of the most fundamentally sound defensive players in the league. Typical hater bullshit!

Harrison is not being fined for the hit, he is getting fined for the outcome. If both players get up in go back to the huddle, this isn't even a subject. So from now on the coaches will be preaching to their players to stay down when they get hit hard hoping the opposing player gets ejected. If this is the kind of football you all want to watch then more power to ya. I applaud James for trying to save the sport we all love.

As a browns fan, I agree with Harrison...If the league is going to continue to fine, and now suspend him, then saying something as rash as this may get the league's attention. Hell ESPN sucks off the NFL on a 365 day a year basis and they are letting their own analysts completely bash these new fines and suspensions. With these rules, Ray Lewis' amazing hit on the Jets Dustin Keller a month ago would lead to a fine and we all know ray ray would be none too pleased about that. The league needs a way to draw a line between a hard hit that a player could not control themselves versus a blatant cheap shot.

So fundamentally sound is leading w/ your head and shoulder? The Cribbs hit, he made no attempt to make a tackle, he dove, leading w/ his head and shoulder. On the Massaquoi hit, he led with his head, and made no attempt to wrap. If you watch the video, there's no way you can argue that he was trying to make fundamental tackles.

Good for him. Now if he can get about 25-30 of the biggest name players to follow suit, Goodell and the NFL will fold like a house of cards (like he does everytime he is forced to make a decision requiring a spine) and back off.

Again, he and Cribbs were both at Kent St.......right after the hit when Cribbs was then known to be hurt Harrison was noticably concerned....and I still say full speed the angle he came from that he was shielded on exactly where Cribbs was going to be after contact with Woodley....he was full bore to where he thought the play was going to be and once there drilled him.

The other hit....my God how many times have we seen the QB hang the receiver out to dry and EVERY TIME the defensive player tries to blow him up....every single time.

As for the fundamentals.....tell me the last time you recall James Harrison missing a tackle....WTH?

Harrison will come back with his best game of the year.

Maybe you should watch the video! Harrison did not lead with his head on either hit, Cribbs was on the way down and he lead with his forearms on the Massaqoui hit. The only reason he was fined is because they're saying the receiver was defenseless........bull shit rule IMO!

I find it amazing that every single expert on TV and radio agree that Harrison is as fundamentally sound as there is in the league but an "expert" like you  .........doesn't think so.

Question for the Steeler fans.

Do you think Harrison is handling this the right way? Forget about whether the hits were clean or not. Is this the best way to deal with the situation? He''s basically saying "if we cant play the way I want I'm going home"

If he has a problem he should keep it quiet. This retirement nonsense just makes him look like a baby

Hell no...definitely not the best way to go about it. Harrison has always been known as a weirdo so I'm not shocked at all with this and it doesn't bother me either. All I want him to do is kick ass on Sundays.

I'm not defended his hits at all...as stated..its part of the game. Some of you are acting like he is known for taking cheap shots and that is incorrect.

I dont have a problem with the hits and I havent called him a cheap shot artist. I have a problem with him acting like a baby. If the rules change it shouldnt be that hard for him to change with them.
