Wasn't able to be there. Did we have guard play? Who played well?

Wasson, Winters, Brenner, Ray, and Turner started, with Pirman, Neer, and Landis most of the time off the bench, guard play was so so, but I thought Neer played well off the bench. Overall a very ugly game but the good guys played well in the ot to hang on.

Is that the 20th different starting line up? LOL I guess it doesn't make a difference. You've got to come to play hard.

The score wasn't very high. Did we play more of a half court game or was it poor shooting on both sides?

Very physical game and Winters really needs to get stronger and tougher. Only 2 of the seniors had a lot of playing time tonight, with a rotation on Lalonde, who was missing shots early, unlike the game at Wooster where he was lights out.

A win against Wooster is always good...too many unforced turnovers.

I can't wait to read the newspaper report about the finish, as well as how the whole game played out. With about 20 seconds left in OT, Wasson drove from the side and slammed it, and then went down really hard. Wooster in-bounded and bombed a long 3 to tie it back up. Landis got fouled on our in-bounds and went to the line with about 5 seconds remaining. He swished the first, then missed the second.........but because he has great arc on his free throws, the rebound went high and there was a mad scramble for the ball, with it going out of bounds on the baseline to us. We were able to get it in play and that was the ball game.........49-48.
Good crowd tonight and lots of cheering. Kent had to stop the "I don't know but I've been told cheer".

Yeah. Towards the end, I was pretty ticked with the chest high pass to Winters by Landis that was easily picked off.Riderfan;692337 wrote:...too many unforced turnovers.
We just don't have players that are as agile, quick, deceptive, passer, outside shooter, etc., as a team like Wooster has.....or pretty much anybody else, for that matter. After watching tonight, I think I get why Ray still starts. He has that ability, yet doesn't use it to the fullest in game time.
So, we end up the regular season at 7-13. What other team in our history has been able to go into the tournament with such high hopes? Long ago, we were cooked. Now, because of our tough schedule, we actually still have something to talk about.
Go Riders!

Great win to go into tournaments with, well done.
On a side note: I don't think too many fans, including Orrville fans, were impressed with the student sections "I don't know what I've been told" cheer!!

Sounds like an old army boot camp marching chant.

Ringz, way to point out the obvious buddy!
Those are two really good basketball teams, and I wouldn't mind a rematch with either of them... just the Red Rider in me!
Respect everyone, fear noone!
That chant just makes you look really bad, immature, and classless. Although a funny chant, I never really did like it. (sidenote: I honestly never did cheer this during wooster week or anytime we played the generals in my time at Orrville high school)

I was a bit taken aback, too.......but as an old fella......I kinda liked it, just the same.
I agree with you, riders1, it does sound like an army boot camp march song. I like it, actually.

Orrville has to have the most posters on this site....if you want to count all the n00bs with under 5 posts, and rarely show up unless they got issues with something. lolBRF;692365 wrote:And another n00b chimes in. Welcome.

Didn't Triway beat Wooster?
We lost to two WCAL teams who happen to be the 2 best teams in the district. I'll take a 2nd shot at either.
I agree with OQB on the chant thing...it's lame, and immature. Shouldn't have been made into a t-shirt either, FWIW.

I guess I get some of the credit/blame for that. Wasn't long after JJ started charging that I found this place and love the fact that so many came along. Glad we've continued the tradition of arguing amongst ourselves on a new site.OQB;692371 wrote:Orrville has to have the most posters on this site....if you want to count all the n00bs with under 5 posts, and rarely show up unless they got issues with something. lol

Yes they beat woooster in the swimming pool 53-48 and also beat Northwestern in the 1st game of the season.

Winters did show last night that he can become a dominant player for us. And that is bad news for our opponents in the upcoming tournament.
Stats had the Riders at 21 turnovers to the General's 10. If we can chop those in half, at least......look out.
