Here are some thoughts on the last few posts, courtesy of BRF:
From lvhoops: "For big guys there is no such thing as an easy layup or putback. You are always fighting for position and are almost always hit or bumped when shooting."
I disagree on the first sentence. For a big man, there are many easy put backs. AND...if you are a PLAYER, you relish someone fouling you on your way up so you can finish with a nifty bank shot or slam and hit the ensuing free throw. Pretty sure OQB was talking about the uncontested shot that doesn't seem to fall in.
From thePitman: "Congratulations to Orrville on a very nice tournament run. You just ran into a better team tonight, but you still battled"
From RRRock: "First congrats to the Irish they were the better team tonight"
I have a little problem with those statements. First off, I find Pitman's comment condescending and RRRock's comment like........duh. This reminds me of Manchester's coach in the girl's tourny saying that the better team lost. Maybe Hillsdale thinks they were the better team after we beat them in the District Semi's? The better team always wins! (citation: Genoa)..................(I think I get what you meant, RRRock, though)
Going on to say from RRRock: "losing Zach and Max will hurt a lot".........not as much as what we lost from last year, imo, of course. But I agree with the rest of what you said in that I think we will have a dynamite team next year.
From Bloody Mary: "I don't think that Summers or Zook will be ready for Varsity competition next season and will lead our JV team to success."
I believe that Summers will be a varsity player next year.
And as for Riderwannabe's comment: pfft! (with my right hand pushing out with extended fingers)
Torch it up! And touche' , in advance!

The OCC is now done as Madison lost tonight, so the OCC had 2 teams in regionals, Orrville and Madison ( both 4-1 in tourney ) and Senior lost in the district finals, so a pretty good run by the OCC in what some considered a down year.
Also Congrats to Soph. Hannah Plybon named to Div III 1st Team All-Ohio !

What's everyone's guess as to where Zach will land on the All-Ohio list next week? I'd like to see him on the 1st team, but guessing he'll be a 2nd teamer.

At best probably 2nd team.
Also one more chance to see Zach and Max at the Berkey classic in Smithville Tuesday Mar 22. Should see a few dunks before that game!
Sly and snoddy are the "coaches" ( or rather have front row seats to watch
) and Alberts is "coaching" the girls game, with Hillary Plybon and Sara Aultz from Orrville.

Final DIII from Canton
Ursuline 46
Cle.Central Cath. 59
CCC dominated from the start , 6'8" Anton Grady ( CSU recruit) hit 4 straight 3 pt shots in the 1st qtr and they maintained a double digit lead the rest of the way. Gregory the guard who burned us for 26 pts only scored 2 pts tonight as Ursuline looked like a completely different team than the one that played us. #10 hit 7 3's to make it as close as it was.

Slam dunks by anyone who can get up over the rim during warmups, even funnier to watch the shorter guys try to dunk and miss. Also lots of 3's will be attempted, but not like OSU on Sunday

Wasson is only Orrville representative at Berkey Classic. Hillary Plybon and Sara Aultz will play in the girls game.
Wasson and Max Pirman will play in the OCC All-Star game at Ashland on Wednesday the 23rd. Four Orrville Lady Riders will play in the girls game that night too.

Wasson did not play at Berkey classic, Max Pirman and Daniel Groves were the Orrville players. McKean was player of the game and Sara Aultz was the girls Player of the game. Congrats to her on a very good game.

YEAH, I drove 26 miles to see Wasson, and he was not there! D'OH!!! Anyone know (with any accuracy) whether or not he is playing in any other all-star games besides the one at Ashland tomorrow? Thanks!

I was told directly from our AD that he WAS playing in both the Berkey and the OCC games.
My info was good....something must have changed.
Same AD also said he's playing tonight in the OCC All-Star game at Ashland.
stoike,
have not heard of any other all-star games he's playing in other than the one at Ashland.

fyi...I looked to see if Hiland's schedule for next year was out, and saw that Hiland is scheduled to play Orrville at the WQKT Classic at COW next year. Nice to see these teams play again. Probably only for next year, as east Canton will be joining the IVC the year after and taking up a couple scheduling spots that are there for only '11-'12. (didn't see triway scheduled, but only 19 games scheduled, so maybe that date just isn't set yet. Even though hiland has won the last 4 i'd think they would keep that series going)

Saw that just the other day....so glad to see Hiland finally a part of the Smitty Classic. Long overdue.
Even if only for one year.
Here's the lineup for the entire 2011 Smitty Classic
December 17, 2011
Triway vs. Newark Catholic
Northwestern vs. Heath
Norwayne vs. West Holmes
Hillsdale vs. Norwalk
Wooster vs. North Canton
Orrville vs. Hiland

Dont want to chance an injury and jeopardize his full ride to Malone? That's as good a guess as any.

North Canton? Or do you mean Hoover? Looks like a good lineup!
