If that is true who is the 5th, I would assume Wasson, Pirman, Graber, Groves and the given ones that leaves Sieler, Zook, McCord. Leaves Perez, Brenner, Winters, Ray, Turner to come off the bench. We going to have line changes like hockey with subs.

I like it as a symbolic move....seniors need to lead and set the example.

Just need a handful of guys to score between 6-10 pts a game, hope Wasson gets his 20-ish ppg and play solid defense. Games in the 50's & 60's are to our liking right now.

I think Brenner, Groves & Perez are your best bets as 2nd, 3rd & 4th scorers.

Ridernation: IMO....Brenner and Ray should be starting. Brenner is your second leading scorer and Ray is your best ball handler. Turner should be improving his skills starting at point for JV then dressing for varsity. He needs alot of playing minutes to learn the way we play here in Orrville. Winters and Perez are good coming off the bench at this time. I haven't seen alot of Sieler, Zook, or McCord to have an opinion. Question: Have we had the same starting five for the first 4 games? I think it’s been different every week but I'm not sure.

I think Winters needs to be in the lineup. Without him Wasson has three guys hanging on him when he posts up or drives to the basket.. Winters is the only other inside threat who teams have to prepare for.

Let me say this first, I have not seen a game yet, but from the box scores and from last year Winters is no offensive threat, he looks to pass first and score second, yes he would help greatly to Wasson if he were scoring 8-14 pts a game. He should be able to get that just on garbage pts. He is still a project in the works right now, granted he has improved greatly in the last 2 years but has lots of room on the upside. Can you say weight room. Unforntunatley he is not going to fill out until after he graduates, he is a diamond in the rough.

I've only seen the Hillsdale game and he had a tough time. Three possessions in a row made clear the fact that, while he's gotten stronger, he still has a long way to go in the strength department.

Can't teach height, but you can teach strength and technique. A dose of "nasty" would help him too.

Although Wasson ended up with a good amount of points against Hillsdale, many were when the game was out of reach. Teams will love it when he steps outside, he needs to get on the block and use his post moves and athleticsm. His teammates need to put the egos to the side and play disciplined. It's okay to move the ball until you get a good post entry past. Get Wasson involved early, because if he doesn't play well, chances of winning are very slim.

That's a name from back in my playing days. He always seemed like a good guy.

For anybody with CPI the game is on channel 11. Orrville down 24-15 in the second. Shaq Brooks with 14 for Madison already.

I guess I over estimated the height of this team.....You would think a high school basketball team that has 6 guys over 6'3" could score a lot of points in the paint and not have to worry or rely on your guards scoring on the outside, BUT it seems to be the case, that other than Wasson nobody else can score in the paint.

I don't care how much basketball playing time you have had, at 6'7" or 6'9" however tall he is....you should be able to score points in high school.Just has to put his hand up and he is at the rim. Between Wasson and Winters....those two should have 35 points a game combined. If nobody else can make a basket it is going to be a very very very long season!

We needed to win this one. I didn't see this game, so I'll reserve judgment. Its time to start to think about plan B.

Something that took me a long time to understand....it really doesn't matter what you do in the regular season. It's the post season that counts. Hopefully, we can turn it around and do it later. I kinda like the idea of us being 10-10, or worse, and doing some damage.

Looked better tonight against a very athletic Madison team. It's amazing what a couple quick penetrating guards can do when they are able to drive and shoot or dish off. We need to be able to get the ball up the floor against pressure and not pass the ball around in the backcourt causing turnovers. Brenner had a good supporting game and Turner looked good just running past guys up the floor. Madison's 8 3 pointers was the big difference to our 3. Overall they all seemed to be playing a great 4th quarter and had it down to 2 points at around the 40 second mark and never quit, so playing only 4 DIII teams, our DI and DII schedule should get us ready for the post season.

Where did you send the email? I did not get anything. If you sent it to my @ohiobasketball.net, it automatically gets forwarded to my personal email, and I did not receive it. Can you try to send it directly to thepitman13 @ gmail.com (no spaces)? Thanks! I may have already gotten some of the scores since I tried to get caught up this morning.

What is that plan B? I dont think there is one.

I think the kids will round into form and Sly will find the right mix...but that may not make up for just a lack of a serious outside scoring threat. Lots of role players after Wasson. Drew can score, but other than that, there can't be a guy averaging any more than 6 points a game.

Lost a lot of mentally tough, senior leaders from last years team. They werent the most talented "basketball" players....but they were assets nonetheless.

I believe the talent is there. How many coaches would kill for 3 guys over 6' 5". They lost a little of that, "we won't except losing attitude" when last years class left. Just need to find 5 players that have it.

Plan B might be more playing time for Zook and Mitchell. I know for a fact that the Mitchell kid is a good outside shooter. Plan C might involve bringing up some back court JV players. Just guesses!

I find it quite ironic that we have so much height, yet don't have anyone stepping up and doing the job in the back court.

Exactly...if I were a high school basketball coach I would die for the size of our roster....too much height on this team to be 1-4. Being a 6'4" player in high school is big...we have 4 of them and still can't seem to win games. Very frustrating!

Agreed BRF, we need some "zone busters", and until they show up we'll see defenses packed into a zone and double or triple team Wasson or Winters and letting us go outside until someone hurts them, then they will come out. So it's pass, pass, pass the ball around until someone comes open for good shots. I'd like to see an all pass offense and no dribbles, make the defenses work.

Watched Hiland with 3 guys, 6'5" , 6'6", and 6'7" against Garaway at 6'8" and a 6'4", but Garaway outrebounding Hiland by a whopping 31 to 14, because the Garaway players wanted the ball more. Hiland seemed content to shoots 3's and not force the issue inside to get the fouls and its seems strange to see the tallest player outside shooting more 3's than inside shots. It seems like Hiland has the stars and thinks they just show up and get the win, but Garaway showed them the team that shows up to play 4 quarters can still overcome talent and win.
