Still not much of any outside threat. Give us Arnold and 2 pizza's and well give you..... the kid is good, but looks like a refugee from Ethiopia. He does have a big heart and drives the lane fearlessly and is very quick. We guarded him lackadasically the first half. After a half time talk that I'm sure got to the point about letting him have a free hand we manned up on him and tried to out physical him. I loved it when Pirman had him and was chasing him around and holding him with one hand (of course it got a foul). We did a much better job on him in the second half.
It was a hard game to ref due to the physicality of the game. WH was double and triple teaming Wasson and hacking him or pushing him underneath every time, then you'd get some mild hand check called.
Graber looked as good as anyone else as point guard. We need someone to hit the short jumper when Wasson is double, triple teamed and he kicks it out.
WH is vastly improved from previous years and its due to better talent and better coaching.

I believe we held Arnold to only 1 point the 2nd half, according to the WKLM announcers I heard on radio on the way home. 3 three's in the 1st half.

Triway will struggle this year, but they do have good coaching and will get better as the year goes on. As will Orrville struggle until they find the right combination to make the offense work.

riders1, My basketball web sites take a lot of time to keep up-to-date during the winter months, so it doesn't leave much time to post on here. I do try to get online on game night and at least post our score, though. In fact, I was the one that posted the score for you on Yappi. Haha. I guess if I have nothing nice to say, I should say nothing at all. I am sure we will get better, though, so we'll see. Anyway, Orrville will find their stride and will have a nice season!

I'd like to see us setting "ball" screens up top. This would allow the point to penetrate and either dump it off to Wasson or pull up & take the 12 footer. Ray looks very capable of hitting that mid-range jumper. Also need better spacing so the "bigs" have more room to operate and combat the double & triple teams down low. I think this years team, and the progress they make, will show everyone how good our coaching staff really is.

Hearing Sly was none too happy after the game. I didn't like how we played in the 2nd half...we let our emotions guide us and played too out-of-control at times.
Liked seeing Perez take (and make) some 3's.
Let's face it, we're very much a 1-dimensional team right now and "not being at full strength" is no longer an excuse. Teams are going to pack it in against Zach and make anyone else beat us. The other 4 on the court have to welcome that challenge and step up.
Hillsdale shot the ball real well and we did a bad job of rebounding. They had great balance.
Seems like Hillsdale & Manchester might be the early favorites in the Wooster District.

^^ All teams get a seed. Orrville will get back into their groove and will be fine, in my opinion. I hope we can do the same. We'll see what happens.

Manchester is in Salem district, here are the district teams. Wooster winner would play Salem winner in Canton regional semi-final game, with Painesville and Warren the other 2 districts.
Orrville will get a top 4 seed based on reputation and respect from the other coaches.

I agree they should be Pit, but they will need to play much better than Saturday! Which I am sure they will, like you have said. Nothing is guaranteed though with high school athletes!

Well it's way early in the season, but there is only 1 team undefeated in our district that's Oberlin at 4-0 ( with 2 wins against d4 Lake Ridge and Horizon Science ) Hillsdale and Northwestern at 3-1 and Smithville at 3-2, all the rest are at .500 or less, so it is still wide open for seeds and it doesn't appear like it will be a strong field this year, so seeding might not matter anyway. Looks like a lot of teams looking to play better in January and get turned around for tourney time.
Pit, I e-mailed you some scores from the 17th and 18th games for your district site.

I believe that our new poster, Jenna8, was talking about a top 4 seed. And like Mr. Russell said, nothing is guaranteed, as we have a lot to prove at this point.

Started a top 10 list for 2010....
Will hopefully do 1 post per day. I'll skip Christmas...but if I post every other day, #1 will be posted on December 31st.
Feel free to offer up your top 10 or top 5...or top 1.
Even without thinking, the State finals game and runnerup has to be #1 by far, since this is a basketball thread. Only 4 teams in the state can top that

We'll see how the team responds tonight at Madison.
Heard all starters will be seniors. That hasn't been the case over the first 4 games.
